Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 166,674, dated August 10, 1875; application filed December 17, 1874.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I ALBERT A. W001), of the city of Syracuse, State of New York, have invented an Improvement in Hollow Angers,
of which the following is a specification The object of my invention is to securely hold the cutter in a hollow auger, and have it adjustable to any required position; and the nature of it consists in the combination of devices employed, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation on the plane .00 00. Fig. 2 is a face view. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the strap S.
A strap, S, is provided with a groove or recess on its inside face, into which aknife, K, is fitted, as shown in Fig. 3. The strap S is attached to a In g or ear on the body of the auger A, Figs. 1 and 2, by the screws a and b. The knife K being thicker than the depth of the groove in the strap S, as shown in Fig. 1, it is obvious that the screws a and b, will hold the knife firmly between the strap S and the lug. In one end of the strap S, Figs. 2 and 3, is a slot, 0, which allows the strap S to swing on the screw 1), and, by means of the groove or recess on the inside face of the strap S, carry the cutting-edge toward or from the tenon, as may be required, as shown by the dotted lines in Fig. 2.
I claim as my invention- The combination of the bodyA of a hollow anger with the cutting-knife K and strap S, provided with the slot 0, all constructed to operate as shown and described, and for the Witnesses HIRAM CLARK, GEo. H. CLARK.
