UNITED STATES WILLIAM F. KOCE, OF CAMDEN, NEW J ERSEY.
MUSIC-BOLL TAB.
Application filed January 27, 1923.
This invention relates to music roll tabs. and the principal object is to produce a device of this nature which may be made in a single piece and which may be so formed that the eyelet holder in being bent upon itself will be extended up so as to ;form an additional reinforcement.
Another object of the invention is to produce a. device of this nature in which the eyelet for co-operation with the hook of the player shall be fastened directly through. the dependent portion of the tab.
Another object of the invention is to produce a device of this nature which shall have its reinforcing portions so arranged as to present a suitable surface for the reception of advertising matter.
Another object is to produce a device of this nature which shall be simple of construction, cheap to nninufacture, and highly eflicient for the purpose for which it is designed.
Vith these and. othgr objects in view as will be more apparent, the invention consists in certain novel construction and combination andV arrangement of parts, the essential :features of which are hereinafter fully described, are particularly pointed out in the .appended claim, and are illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a view of the blank as struck out and before being folded and pasted to the music roll.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the same applied to the slieet of music.
Figure 3 is a bottom plan view of the same.
Like characters of reference refer to like parts in all the views.
Referring to the drawing in detail, 10 represents av blank formed from gummed paper or fabric and provided with laterally extending diagonally arranged wings 11 which are so shaped at the ends 12 and at the points 13 that when the wings are folded upon themselves, Vthe'ends 12 and 13 will be superposed and will lie parallel with the side edges of the music roll Sheet.
The blank extends upwardly into a square. reinforcing portion 1,4, and this forms a Serial No. 615,354.
strong reinforcement at the weakest portion of the tab.
The means for connecting the tab to the hook of the player instrument is shown as an elongated tongue 15 having apertures 1G which register with each other upon folding the tab along the dotted line 17. `When the' 'wings 11 are folded and the tab 15 is also folded the end portion 18 extends up between the two ends 13 so as to form, a double reinforcement at this place. An eyelet 19 of suitable material and size is clinched through the apertures 1G, and then the wings ll and the portion 18 and 14 are glued 01' gunimed to the sheet of music shown at 20. The finished appearance of the device is clearly shown in Figures 2 and 3.
VVhile I have described what I deem to be the most desirable embodiment of my invention, itis obvious that many of the parts may be varied without in any way departing from the spirit of my invention, and l therefore do not limit myself to the exact details of construction herein shown nor to anything less than the whole of my invention limited only by the appended claim.
Vh-at I claim is2- i As an article of manufacture, a one piece record sheet binder, comprising a body of substantial size and having arms of comparatively reduced width reaching laterally and divergently upward from opposite ends of the body and folded throughout their lengths transversely upon themselves, said body and the arms having adhesive means on their inner sides to secure them to the end portion of a record sheet, the folded parts of the arms having their adjacent end edges parallel and at least the width of the tab apart, said body having a tongue reaching therefrom and between the arms and being folded at a point transversely of the tongue, whereby the front part may extend up between the two adjacent parallel end edges and lie against and be secured to the surface of the record sheet in the same plane as the corresponding folded portions of the arms.
In testimony wliereof I aflix my signature.
WILLIAM F. KOCH.
