Description

March 27, 1928.
W. REINHARDT COMBINED GAITER AND BOOT PROTECTOR Filed "M126, 1927 Patented Mar. 27, 1928.
UNITED STATES 'WILHELM REINHARDT, OF MELSUNGEN, GERMANY.
COMBINED GAITER AND BOOT PROTECTOR.
Application filed May 26, 1927, Serial No. 194,425, and in Germany December 8, 1926.
This invention relates to an elastic insertion for gaiters of leather which prevents wearing on the parts of the ga-iter and of the boot which are in contact the one with 6 the other.
According to the invention this object is attained by providing an elastic insertion on the lower end of the gaiters, said insertion being preferably made of rubber and 10 fixed on the inner surface of the gaiters and folded over the lower edge of the gaiters. The rubber insertion might also consist of a rubber cuff to be placed over the lower edge of the gaiters.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 shows the elastic insertion in side elevation.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1.
Fig. 3 is a vertical section through Fig. 1.
Fig. 4. shows how the elastic insertion is fixed in the gaiters.
An elastic insertion (6 is attached to the inner surface of the lower end of a gaiter a of leather and of any desired shape, size and construction. This lower portion of the gaiter moves to and fro on the boot during walking. The elastic insertion (X may be of rubber and its lower edge is folded over the lower edge f of the gaiter and turned up ward to form a narrow strip a on the outer side of the gaiter. The insertion d may be of any convenient shape, for instance in the shape of a cult, and it may be fixed in the gaiter a in any suitable manner, for instance by means of pins to be inserted through holes h of the cuff-like insertion and of the gaiter. V
The main idea of the invention is to line with an elastic insertion that portion of the gaiters which moves with regard to the boot when the person'who wears the gaiters is walking.
I claim 1. A leather gaiter comprising an elastic lining on the inner surface of its lower rear portion movable with regard to the boot.
2. A leather, gaiter comprising an elastic lining on the inner surface of itslower rear portion movable with regard to the boot and folded over the lower edge of the gaiter.
3. A leather gaiter comprising an elastic lining on the inner surface of its lower rear portion movable with regard to the boot and consisting of a rubber cufi fixed on the lower edge of the gaiter.
In testimony whereof I afiiX my signature (WILLI) WILHELM REINI-IARD'I.
