It will thus be seen that .l have provided a very simple, substantial and economical iorm oi latch or fastener which is espeeiallj.' adapted for retrigerator doors. butt maj.' he used in other relations and lherel'ore l lo not. desire to be, limited to such particular use. Vhat I claim as new is:
l. In a latch for refrigerator doors or the like, a. casing adapted to be mounted on the door, a bolt slidable in the casingr and having a. roller on its free end, a spring lor projecting the bolt, a pivoted tripping meniber mounted in the casiner and having a projection extending from the casing. means for moving the tripping' device into engagement with the holt to hold the holt retracted and to limit. the projection thereof. a bell crank pivoted in thc casing,r and operatively eonnected with the bolt, a lever pivoted on the easing' and havingr an arm to engage the hell crank for retracling the bolt when the lever is moved on its pivot to open the door, .f keeper adapted to he mounted on the door frame and havin;t a beveled portion to engage the holt roller when the holt if pro jccted to hold the door closed, and a plato portion to engage the jn'ojection ot the trippinfdr device ivhen the door is' moved to clof-t-fl position for releasing` the tripping' device, from the bolt to permit automatic projection thereol' behind the keeper ivlierebj7 the door if; held closed.
