Application filed March 3, '1927, Serial No. 172,492., and in France March 15, 1926,
s The invention has for its object the provi sion of a stopper-cap arrangement for a mo tor vehicle Wheel, quickly fastened and normally retained into position by an elastic device which is deformed for its setting and its" withdrawal. This cap is specially applicable to the removable Wheel described in the patent application No. 156,9l3 dated December In the arrangement illustrated, the liub member 6 is bent over inwardly on its end portion. A. pressed sheet iron cap 7, is provided with two riveted spurs 8, and theflanged portion of the hub member is prorider]. with twoopenings 9, the outline of which is indicated in'dotted lines in F g. 2.
) These openings are diametrically opposite eachother and each of them comprises a hole, of which the diameter is slightly greater than that of the spur heads 8, ex: tending into an elongated slot of the width of. which is smaller than the diameter of these heads and greater than that of the body of these spurs. Two resilient plates 10, secured on the inside face of the flanged portion of the hub 6 as at 10 (Fig. 2), are,
provided at their end with a small hole adapted to accommodate the pointed part of a spur head 8 when the stopper is mounted 7 into position. 1
For the assembly, one has only to press the cap against the front face of the hub,
causing the spurs to enter the circular part of the openings 9, a slight rotativezmovement to the right hand side being then sufiicient to lock the stopper in position, the point of each spur head e terin th hole of the corresponding spring 10. To with the spurs from the springs.
To set the cap, it will be suflicient to draw the cap,'reverse operations are per- I termed, a small efi'ort being sufficient to free press said cap against the wheel, to con-1 tract the ring and to cause it to enter-the groove 14. To withdraw the cap,the ex-" tension 16 is depressed, thusenabling the;
easy withdrawal of the cap by jumpingout the ring. v v I I Claims: 1'. A stopper cap arrangement comprising a -hub member the end portion of which is bent radially, a cup shaped-member adapted to encircle and fit the outer peripheryof said end portion one ofthe members being pi'ovided with slots, retaining meanssupported by the other of said members and engaging the slots, and resilient means for preventing the disengagement of said retaining means. 2. A stopper cap arrangement comprising a cup shaped member adapted to bear against said end portion of the hub member,
.a hub member having a flanged endpoitioinjf spurs onthe'studs and perforated resilient 'means opposite the slots, whereby accidental disengagement'of the cup, shaped member is prevented by theengagement of the spurs with the perforations of the resilient means.
3. A" stopper cap arrangement comprising a hub member the end portion of which is bent radially inward, a cup shaped member adapted to fit the outerperiphery of the end portion and to bear against the bent portion of the hub member, studs provided on the cup shaped member, the bent portion of the hub member be ng" provided with corresponding elongated slots, resilientstrips secured on the bent portion of the hub member opposite the elongated slots 1 and provided withperforations, and spurs on the studs whereby the-cup shaped meinber is put into position by, introducing the studs into the slots and rotating same to en-v gage the spurs intothe perforations.-
