Attention is called to the fact that by my construction, a very narrow or thin holder is provided making it handier for use inmost cases than the wide and clumsy razors of this type now generally employed.

While my razor is especially adapted to hold wafer blades it is obvious thatblades of other cross sections may be employed.

The clip 11 is so formed incross section that it can be easily slipped into position as indicated in'Figure 5. Thisis done by making the back of the clip slightly wider .clip are kept smooth and polished so that than the thickness of the holder with the blade in place. With this arrangement the edge or corner of the holder may be inserted in the end of the clip and will automatically spread the clip as the 1 clip is pushed into position.

In manufacturing my device I prefer to make the holder plates 1-1 of a stiff or hard material so as to maintain a sufficient rigidity for the purpose for which the razor is designed, whilethe handle may be made of a softer materialso that it may be read ily bent into the U-form.

By my arrangement also the blade may be held in the holder during honing and stropping and by reason of the beveled edges 6 of the holder and the horseshoe shape of the clip in cross section the contact with the holder or Withthe razor strop is such as not to injure the holder or strop and as the razor is honed or stropped the entire outer surface of the blade, the adjacent bevelled surfa'cesG of the holder and the sides of the when the instrument is in use there is no danger of scratchingthe face while shavf ing for instance.

From the foregoing description, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought the complete construction and the advantages-of my invention Will be clear to'those skilled in the art and I desire it understood that slight changes in the details of construction may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims.

What I claim is:

1. An adjustable blade razor comprising a holder having abifurcated end to receive a waferlike blade between the bifurcations, and a holding clip fitted over-one edge of the bifurcated end to apply retaining friction pressures to the bifurcations of the holder and thereby secure the blade, the other end of said, holder being bifurcated and a handle pivoted adjacent to "said other end and itself having bifurcated portions embracing the of the razor blade to protect the same.

2. An adjustable blade razor comprising a holder having a bifurcated end to receive a "Wafer-like blade between thebifurcations,

and a holding clip fitted over one edgeof the bifurcated end to apply retaining friction pressures to the bifurcations of theholder and thereby secure the blade, said holder having a stop for the razor blade and a handle to abut.

3. An adjustable blade razor comprising a holder having a bifurcated end to receive a wafer-like blade between the'bifurcations,

and a holding clip fitted over one edge of the bifurcated end to' apply retaining frie tion pressures to the bifurcations of the" holder and thereby secure the blade, the

other end of said holder being bifurcated and a handlepivoted'adjacent to said other end and itself having bifurcated portions em-' bracingthe holder a'nd having a channelled 7 portion adapted to close over the exposed portion of the razor to protect the same, said holder having a stop for the razor blade and handle to abut.

4. A razor comprising a holder consisting of "two elongated ,thln metal plates'jand a shive between the, same to leave bifurcated ends, a bifurcated handle pivoted to the holder adjacent one end, the bifurcations of the handle and holder when the handle is in the extended position cooperating to hold the handle in its various'angular adjustments with retaining friction, and a wafer blade held in the other bifurcated end of the holder, and means to hold the holder'plates and the shive together as a unit. A razor comprisinga holder consisting of two elongated thin metal plates and a shive between the same to leave bifurcated ends, a bifurcated handle pivoted to the holder adjacentone end, thebifurcations of; thehandle and holder when the handleis in the extended position cooperating to hold the handle in its various angular adjustments withretaining friction, a wafer blade located in the other bifurcated end of the holder, a U-clip held with gripping friction over said other bifurcated end to guard. one

edge of the blade and applying gripping frictionthrough the holder bifurcations to,

6. A razor comprising a holder consisting of two elongated thin metal plates. and a shive between the same to leave bifurcated ends, a bifurcated handle pivoted to the holder adjacentone end, the bifurcations of the handle and holder when the handle is in the extended position cooperating to hold the handle in its various angular adjustments with retaining friction, a wafer blade located in the other bifurcated end of the holder, a U-clip held with gripping friction over said other bifurcated end to guard one edge of the blade and apply gripping friction through the holder bifurcations to the blade to retain the same, a rivet securing said holder plate and said shive together and serving as a stop for said clip and as a stop for said handle when said handle is folded over to protect the exposed edge of the blade.

7. A razor comprising a holder having provision at one end for retaining a wafer blade and having its other end bifurcated,

a bifurcated handle pivoted to the holder adjacent said bifurcated end, the bifurcations of the handle and holder when the handle is in the extended position cooperating to hold the handle in its various angular ad- 7 justments with retaining friction, said holder having chain snap-fastener receiving holes longitu inal alignment for the purposes specified.
