MOUNT Fon ARTIFICIAL TEETH.
Appiieatio'n fnedneeember ,21, 1925. serial No. 76,928.
This invention relates` to a mount which j includes a holder and a penetrable iilleroi material such as wax, supported by the holder, and having a face adapted tobe penetrated hy pins project-ing iironi the posterior faces of teeth, the material of the filler ad-j hering tov pins inserted therein. sovthat the teeth are adequately secured to themount and readily removable therefrom. l
The chief object of the invention is to provide a mount, the holder element of which is of sheet material such as aluminum, and is adapted to firmly support the penetrable filler and teeth engaged therewith, said h-older element being light and durable, neat. and attractive in appearance, and adapted to be manufactured at a minimum expense.
Another object is to enable the holder and the pe-netrable body iiller to enter a tooth recess formed in part-.by the posterior face lfrom which the pins project.
Of the accompanying drawings forming a part oi' this specification-y Figure 1 is a perspective view of' one 'form of the holder element. f
v Figure 2 is a section on line 2-2 or' Figure 1. A
Figure 8 is a view similarv to Figure showing the penetrable ller.
Figure 4 is a view similar to Figure 3, showing a recessed tooth engaged with the 'mount 'Figure 4a is a. view similar to Figure'l, showing a modification.
Figures 5, `6, 7 and 8 are views similar to F igrufes l, 2. 3 and l. respectively, showing a different form ofmount and a differently formed tooth enga ged therewith.
The same reference characters indicate the same parts in all of the figures.
The holder element includes a body portion 12 and flange portions atropposite edges of an opening 15 in the body portion, the holder being preferably made from a single sheet of aluminum. The flange portions may project outward from the body portion, as shownv by Figures 1, 2, 3, tandi 4.a, or inward, as shown by Figures 5, 6, 7 and 8.
16 designates a penetrable filler, preferably composed of wax. Said filler closes the opening 15 and bears on the flange porformed by the posterior face 18.
tions, and has a face lwhich is exposed at the outer side of the holder andv is penetrable by pins 17 projecting from the posterior face 18 of a tooth.V
The exposed face of the filler andthe flange portions shown by Figures 1 to 42001- lectively form a seat for the posterior face 18.
Owing to the outward projection ofthe fiange portions, the said seat is offset outward from the body portion 12, and is adapted, as shown by Figures t and fla, to
enter a tooth recess, oneV side of' which is The seat may be inclined relative to the body portion, as shown by Figures 3 and 4l, or parallel with the body portion, as shown by Y Figure 4a. The outwardly projecting flange portions, shown by Figures 1, 2, 3 and et, include a flange portion 141, perpendicularto the body, and a fiange ortion 13, inclined relative to the body. he flange portions 13a and 1431, shown by Figure 4i, are each 'inclined relative to the body.
. The holder shown by Figures 5 to 8, includes a body portion 12 and two oppositely inclined flange portions 20, projecting inward from the body portion at opposite edges of the opening 15 therein. The filler here designated by 16? bears on the flange portions 20, and has a face which is exposed at the outer side of the holder and is substantially flush therewith. In this embodiment of the invention, the seat vfor the posterior face 18EL of the tooth is formed collectively by the body portion 12, and the eX- posed face of the filler 16a as shown by Figure 8.
Tol compensate for the thinness of the sheet material, and provide a mount, the outer surface and tooth seat of which may be suitably elevated above a 'drawer bottom, or
eoV
other support on which the mount rests, I Y
` tion spaced above a supporting surface, and,
in the forni shown by Figures 5 to 8, provide rooin under the body portion for the reception of the flange portions and the penetrable filler.
It will be seen that if the supports 2l Were not provided, the flat body portions 12 of a collection of lnounts deposited on a drawer bottom, would be liable to become entangled With each other, some body portions overlapping others.
I claim:
l. A inount for artilieial teeth, comprising a holder of sheet material, including a body portion and outwardly projecting flange portions at opposite sides of an opening in the body portion, one of said flange portions being perpendicular and the other inclined relative to the body portion, and a penetrable llerclosing the opening and bearing on the flange portions, and having an exposed face which is penetrable by a pin projecting from the posterior `face of a tooth, the exposed face of the iller and the flange portions collectively forming a seat which is inclined relative to the `body portion and is adapted to lenter a. tooth recess formed in part by said posterior face.
2. A mount for artilicial teeth comprising a holder olf' sheet material including` a body portion provided at opposite edges with supports, and having outwardly projecting flange portions at opposite sides oi' an opening formed in the body portion, one o1 said flange portions being perpendicular and the other inclined relative to the body portion, and a penetrable liller closing the opening and beari on the flange portions, and having an expossd tace which is penetrable by a pin projecting from the posterior face of a tooth, the exposed face of the iiller and tlange portions"collectively forming a seat which is inclined relative to the body portion, and is adapted to enter a tooth recess iiorined in part by said posterior iace.
n testimony whereof I have affixed my signature,
SIMON MYERSON.
