DECKER GUIDE FOR KNITTING MAGIIIITES.
Application filed January e1, 1827, Serial No. 162,547, and in Germany May 1%, 1926.
The decl'zers used for narrowing and wideningoperations in knitting machines are usually carried by slidable rods which, to allow easy movement, must have a small 6 amount of free play. The oscillatory move ments set up owing to the free play are magnified in the deckers so that the needles of the latter do not reliably cooperate with the knitting needles with the result that in stitches are often missed and needles bent.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this defect, and the invention consists in providing additional decker guides which are spaced from the carrying rods so it that oscillatory movement of the deckers can be effectively prevented without particular care being taken in the fitting up of the carrying rods.
Fig. i of the accompanying drawings repso resents a cross-section of one arrangement according tothe invention,
Fig. 2, a front view of the same,
3, a cross-section of a second arrange ment,
Fig. i, a front view of thelatter,
Fig. 5, a cross-section of a third arrangement, and
6, a front view of Fig. 5.
The deckers 7) are carried by rods a which 30 are arranged to slide in supporting arms 72. lin the arrangement according to Figs. 1 and 2, the deckers are formed With tail pieces which bear against a stationary guide rail 6 and slide along the latter.
While the decker tail bears against one side I of the guide rail, a bracket d on the tail engages vthe opposite side or" the same so,
in the arrangement according to Figs.
and 6 the brackets d are omitted, and the decker plates are guided between two rigid rails g and I claim:
1. In a straight-bar knitting machine, the combination with deckers mounted on slidable carrier rods, of guide rails arranged so as to support the deckers and prevent oscillatory movements.
2.111 a knitting machine with decker plates, a guide rail arranged so as to support the decker plates, and brackets secured to said plates so as to engage the reversed side of the guide rail.
8. In a knitting machine with decker plates, rails arranged above and below said vent oscillatory movements.
PAUL LIEBERKNECHT.
