Description

Feb. 7, 1928.
P. TROSKI RAIL CONNECTER Filed Nov. 26. 1926 Snow wow P6 16? 27w Patented Feb. 7, 1928.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PETER TROSKI, OF ARISTA, WEST VIRGINIA.
RAIL CONNECTER.
Application filed November 26, 1926. Serial No. 150,642.
rangement and construction of elements hereinafter described and delineated in the accompanying illustration, in which V Figure 1 is a general top plan view of a conventional track embodying therein a oint made inaccordance with the invention.
Figure 2 is aside 'elevational view of the same.
Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 33 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a like view taken on line 4 -4: of Figure 1. i
In the drawing, the numeral 10 designates a tie on which rests the base 11 of a rail 12, the base being held securely thereto by clamp plates 14: riveted to the tie, as at 15, all of the foregoing being well known.
The invention consists of a rectangular plate 16 on which rests the base 11 of-the rail 12, the ends of which abut each other at 17, midway the length of the plate 16.
On one side of the rail at the ends of the plate 16 are secured by rivets 18, a pair of Themain fastening element consists of a 4 base 20 engaging the base 11, of the'rail 12, from which rises a vertical stern portion 21 fitting intermediate the base 11 and the head 22 of the rail, the same being in close relation to the stem 23 of the rail.
he base 20 contains a plurality of recesses 24 in which fit rivets 25 by which the device is fixed to the plate 16.
' Thus, it may be seen that a joint has been disclosedfor securing into proper fixed posi tion, the ends of rails, so as to avoid loosenmg by the shocks and vibratlons of passing trains.
Although the foregoing is descriptive of the preferred embodiment of my invention, 5 it is not desired that the same be interpreted in a limiting sense, as changes in construction may be made without departing from the scope of the claim hereto appended.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is
A rail connecter comprising a rectangular plate, said plate supporting the base of a rail, short rectangular clamps at the ends of said plate engaging one side of the rail, base, a recessed elongated base element engaging the other side of the rail base, said base element being fixed to said plate, and a stemportion on said base element engaging the stem of the rail intermediate the base andhead thereof. t In witness whereof I have aflixed my signature. 7
PETER TROSKI.
