TROUSERS AND SHIRT HOLDER.

This'invention relates to new and useful improvements in garment holding devices and particularly to devices for holding trousers and shirts.

It is well known that when a person reaches up, by lifting an arm, the shirt, over the hip is pulled upwardly out of the trousers, so that when the arm is again lowered, the shirt bulges overthe waistband, giving a blouse effect.

It is the principal object of the invention to provide a device which is adapted to be worn over each of the persons hips, between the shirt and the waistband of the trousers, and which will properly hold the waistband against falling, and also hold the shirt against being pulled upwardly.

Another object is to provide a device of this character which is simple in construction, cheap to manufacture, and which can be comfortably worn by the user.

Other objects and advantages will be apparent from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing.

In the drawing:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device in use, a portion of the waistband of the trousers being broken away, to show the invention.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of the device removed from the trousers, viewed from the opposite side from that of Figure 1.

Referring particularly to the acco1npanying drawing, 10 represents the waistband of the trousers 11, and 12 a portion of the tail of the. shirt, which latter is tucked within, or inside of the waistband ofthe trousers.

Disposed within the waistband, that is be tween the band and the shirt, is the retainer, represented as a whole by the numeral 13. This retainer is preferably formed from soft rubber, and includes a pair of hollow tubularmembers 14, arranged in downwardly divgrgent relation, and connected by a web 15, such device being disposed in such position that the web lies across the hip of the wearer, while the tubular members 14.- stand forwardly and rearwardly thereof. The shirt engaging faces of the tubular members, and of the web, are formed with roughened portions 13', which are adapted to cling to the shirt whereby to hold the same against riding up when the person raises the arm. Properly secured to each of the tubular members ll is a spring metal arm 16, said aim being directed downwardly, outside of the waistband of the trousers, and being terminally formed with an inwardly directed prong 17, arranged to pass through the waistband of the trousers, whereby to hold the device in proper position. Furthern1ore,tl1e device serves to support the trousers over the hip, especially with respectto persons who are slender and not endowed with reasonably large hips. The device, being formed from soft rubber, will not result in any discomfort, when worn, as such rubber will properly compress and expand, with the movements of the person, especially with respect to the tubular portions, which actas cushions.

It will be understood that there is one of.

these devices worn over each of the hips of the 'user, so that the shirt will be. neatly retained within the trousers band, and the trousers effectively held up in place.

What is claimed is:

1. A device for retaining a trousers waistband and a shirt-tail in position on the wearer comprising friction cushions disposed forwardly and rearwardly of the hip of the wearer and outwardly of the shirttail, a friction connecting web between the cushions and disposed outwardly of the shirt-tail, and means on the cushions for penetrating the trousers waistband from the exterior thereof.

2. A device for retaining a trousers waistband and a shirt-tail in position on the wearer comprising a pair of friction cushions disposed forwardly and rearwardly of the hip of the wearer andbetween the waistband and the shirt-tail, a friction web con necting the cushions and extending across. the hip between the waistband and shirttail, and pointed resilient means on the cushions arranged to overlap the waistband and to penetrate the latter from the outside thereof.
