To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY B. FAIRBANKS, of Manchester, in the county of Hillsborough and State of New Hampshire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Screen-Supporters for Cribs and Cradles, of which the following is a specification:

The object of this invention is to support a screen or gauze fabric above a childs crib or cradle, in order to protect the occupant from the annoyance of flies and mosquitoes, and the screen will be supported above the childs face to permit a free circulation of air through the crib between the screen and the child.

The invention consists of two or more par allel semicircular bars connected together at a suitable distance apart by horizontal wire rods, and having their ends bifurcated to form arms for grasping the upper side rails of a childs crib or cradle, for supporting and con lining the same in position, so that a screen or gauze fabric can be placed thereon and be supported above the child for covering the crib and shielding the occupant from the an noyance of flies and mosquitoes, while a free circulation of air through the crib is permitted, as hereinafter more fully set forth.

In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a side elevation of a crib or cradle having my screen-supporting frame applied thereto; and Fig. 2, a. detached view of the frame.

The frame is composed of two parallel wire bars, A A, bent preferably to a semicircular form, and connected together at a suitable distance apart by horizontal rods a a. The

ends of the rods A are formed or provided with branching or bifurcated ends I) b, which, when placed upon the side rails B of the crib or cradle, grasp the same and support the frame in position; The frame is preferably of a semicircular form to correspond with the shape of the end frames of the crib, as ordinarily constructed; but it is apparent that the form or configuration of the frame can be varied to suit different occasions. The frame is located at about the center of the side rails of the crib or cradle, by which means it supports the screen at the center, and the end frames of the crib support the screen at its ends. The screen or gauze is supported, as before mentioned, upon the frame above the childs face and body, and a free circulation of air is permitted between the screen and the child, thus affording it much comfort, and shielding it from the annoyance and bites of insects.

By constructing the ends of the semicircular bars with branching arms, the same is supported upon the side rails of the crib, and can be adjusted to any position thereon by merely sliding it along the side rails. The frame is entirely distinct and separate from the crib, and can be sold of itself to be applied to any ordinary crib.

I claim as my invention As a new article of manufacture, a screensupporter for cribs consisting of the parallel bars A A, connected together by the horizontal rods (0, and having their ends bifurcated to form branching arms I) b for supporting the frame on the side rails of the crib, substantially as and for the purpose described.
