Description

EGBERT WINKLER, OF BROOKLYN, E. D., NEW YORK.
IMPROVEMENT IN WlUFFS.
Specication forming part of Letters Patent No. ll-l, dated July 13, 1875; application led June 23, 1875.
To all 'whom it may concern Be it known that I, EGBERT WINKLER, of Brooklyn, E. D., in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Mufs, which improvement is fully set forth in the following specication, reference being had to the accom panying drawing, in Which- Figure l a side view ot'l my mut'f, partly in section. Fig. 2 is a perspective view ot' a Wrist-protector detached.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to mut't's; andthe improvements will be first hereinafter fully described, and then specifically pointed out in the claims.
In the drawing, the letter A designates a mutt', which is constructed of a covering ot't'ur, and of a lining, B, ot' silk or any other suitable material. That part of the lining B located at the opposite ends ot' the muti' is provided with pockets C, in the edges of which are drawn cords or bands D, in order to admit ot' closing the pockets. The bands D may, if seen lit, be elastic, but they are in the present case inelastic, the ends of the bands being allowed to protrude from the pockets, so that they may be tightened and tied together in order to close the pockets. rlhe bands D, moreover-,may sustain ornamentalappendages, as is common in mut'fs. The letter E designates Wrist-protectors, one part of which is composed ot' fur, preferably similar to that composing the covering of the mu, While the other part of the protectors is composed ot' silk, or ot' inferior material, such as muslin. F are stit'ening-frames, of Wire or other stiff elastic material, placed in one oi' the edges of the protectors E. In the other edge of the protectors are placed supplemental frames Gr, Which also are composed ot' Wire or other stift' elastic material, and which serve to distend the fur part of the protectors. The frames F serve to stiften the edge ot' the protectors E, by which the latter are attached to the pockets O ofthe mutt-that is to say, when the edge of the protectors containing the frames F is inserted in the pockets C, and the pockets are closed by means ot` the cords D, the protectors are iirmly-united with the muli'. In order to detach the protectors it is only necessary to loosen the cords D, when thc pockets O admit ot' their detachment. It may be remarked that other means may be used for closing the pockets C than the cords D, as, for instance, hooks and eyes, or buttons and button-holes. The supplementary frames G serve to distend the body of the mutt and to retain the same in proper shape, and the Wrist-protectors also protect the pockets or lining O against Wear.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The Wrist-protectors E, provided With the stiftening-'rames F, for attaching the protectors to a mutt', the Whole constructed and arranged substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the stifleningframe F and the protectors E,ot' supplemental frames G, constructed and arranged substantially as described, for the object specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I have hereunto set my hand this 17th day ot' June, 1875.
EGBERT WINKLER.
