The end hook: consists of abody portion having atop wall 14 with side walls 15 and 16, thelatterhaving" an. opening; 17' for the purpose hereinafter de- The top wall 14 is extended longitudinally olt' -the body to form a shank-18 which istolded or bent at one end to term a hook 19, as is clearly illustrated. in Figure 2;
Spaced from the top" wall 14 there is a bot tom Wall 20 which is folded to form. an end wall 22 with a portion 23' extending along: the top wall and bent at substantially right angles thereto to form a lip 24, the edge of which is spaced from the wall 20. The bot-V tom wall is secured in the body by rolling over the edges of the side walls-loand '16 at, 251 Figure 4 is slidable along the ii'inersurface A. tongue 26 shaped as illustrated in of the bottom wall 20 is illustrated in Figure 9, the same being bent to form a shoulder or abutment 27 which is located between the lip 24. and the end wall 22 and the tongue is also provided with port-ions bent to form guides or projections 28 extending from the shoulder or abutment 27 between which is located the spring 29, which acts. between the end wall 22 and the abutment or shoulder 27 to press the'tongue 26 to close the hook-shaped end 19 of the device.
7 The tongue is retracted against the spring by means of an endwise movable presser member 30 having a wedgeshaped inner end 31, the inclined surface 32' of which engages the abutment or shoulder 27 of the tongue to move the same to open the hook upon an inward movement of the presser memben The presser member is guided along the lip 24;, which lip also forms a stop to limit the closing movement of the tongue 26, the lip being located inv position to permit the tongue .26 to extend slightly under the hook as'illustrated-in dotted lines in Figure 6,
to support and strengthenthe same.
.This hook may be attached to the end link of, a bracelet by any suitable means that illustrated being the provision of a portion member may extend.
' Fromthe foregoing it will be seen that l have providedsimple and durable construction of end hookhaving-a slidable tongue,
the tongue being operable through the side wall of the device by an endways presser member thus leaving the top wall unbroken to receive ornamentation.
The foregoing description is directed solely towards the construction illustrated, but I desire it to be understood that I reserve the privilege of resorting to allthe mechanical changes to which the device is susceptible, the invention being defined and limited only by the termsof the appended claims.
I claim: l
