An air brake of the lined type, comprising in combination a train pipe, a brake cylinder, an auxiliary container, a distributor for admitting and exhausting air to and from said brake cylinder, a piston like acting member in said distributor and means for loading'said member on one side by train pipe pressure and on the other side by a constant pressure, a double valve connected to said members so as to admit and exhaust air to and from the space adjoining said second member loaded by the brake cylinder pres sure, and a second piston like member, .operatively connected to said first member, and loaded by the brake cylinder pressure in opposite direction to the act-ion of said con stant pressure and an air chamber adapted to be connected. through saiddouble valve to the space adjoining said second member loaded by the brake cylinder pressure. v
