Description

Dec. 13, 1927.
H. WOHLGEMUTH SANITARY OVERALL Filed March 22, 1927 mole nk lgemulk A oRNEY' Patent e d' Dec. 13, 1927.-
; UNITED STATE HUGO WOHLGEMUTH, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SANITARY O ERALL.
Applicatio n filed March 22, 1927. Serial No. 177,427.
This invention relates generally to mens wearing apparel, and has more particularreference to sanitary overall work clothes.
The invention has for an object the provision 'of a .novel sanitary work overall, which is of neat and'fsimple construction, cflicient in performing its functions, and which can be manufacturedand sold at a reasonable cost- For further comprehension of the inven tion and of the objects and advantages I thereof, reference will be had to the following-description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features'of .the invention are more articularlyset forth.- r p Re erring to the -..accompanying drawing forming a material part of this disclosure: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a man wearing a pairof overallsequipped' with the 1nvention device. 1 v Fig. '2 is aborizontal sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. I
Fig. 3'is afra g mentary partly sectional View of one of the overall legs, but showing a modification of the invention. Fig. '4 is a fragmentary perspective .view of a leg portion of an overall, a certain portion being broken away, disclosing certain so interior parts, andembodying a further" modification of the invention.
Fig. 5 isa fragmentary vertical sectional view taken onthe line'55 of Fig. 2.
F 6 is a fragmentary verticalsectional view taken on thelineG-ti of Fig. 2.
The reference numeral 10 indicates gener: any a pair of overalls worn'by a'man '11, 1
- and of course having the customary le portions' 12.- -For-clarity in disclosing t e invention, the portion 13- of the leg portions 12, on a horizontal plane adjacent the calf of the mans legs, will be" referred to'as the calf portion of the leg portion, while the portion 14 on a horizontal plane four inches above the ankle of'the man will .be referred to as the ankle portion of the leg portions. Dust guards 15 0f any suitable material are secured by means hereinafter fully described to'the' calf portions of the leg portions.- -These dust guards are'of such a length asto extend down 'to about the ankle portions of the leg portions 12. I s
- t the height of the ankle .portions 14,
strings 17 encircle'the dust guards, and are through the held againstdisplacement by several stitches dust guards. These strings may be tightly drawn and knotted as at 19 to cause the bottoms of the dust guards-to tightly engage against the mans legs.
The modification of the invention disclosed in Figure 3 shows a strap with a buckel 20, for causing the bottom of the dust guards to engage against a wearers leg, while for this same )urposc, Figure 4' discloses the use of a 'sl idable fastening member I The dust guards 15 may be adjustably "and removably secured -to desired portions of the leg members 12. Several. dove-tailed guides22 are removably secured to the leg portions 12 by means of snap fasteners 23. A clamping ring 24 serves to clamp the top of the dust guards 15 to a holding member 25 provided with dovetailed tongues 26 slidable in the guides 22 and held in adjusted positions by set screws 27. The top of the dust guard may .be fixed to the ring'member 24, intermediate the holding members by cement or other suitablemeans to retain the top of the -dust uard in close proximity to the leg portion 0% the garment.
While I have illustrated and described the I preferred form, construction,
and arrangement of the several elements employed, it
will be understood that the device is nevertheless, susceptible. of considerable modification therein,
changes. as may be fairly embodied within the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having thus described my invention, what claim as new United States Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination of the le portion of a garment, of spaced-apart guid e strips having dovetailed grooves therein the inner sides of said leg portion, holding members slidably mounted in said dovetailed grooves, a ring mounted on said holding members dis osed substantially around the inner circumibrence thereof, and a dust ,guard comprising a fabric casing attached at its upper end to said ring member and depending downwardly therefrom within the leg" ortion' of said garment, saidguard mem er being adjustable longitudinally of said leg portion by manipulation of said holding members.
2. In a device of the class described the combination with the leg portion of agarand desire to secure by' and I therefore reserve the right and privilege of resorting to all such removably attached to 10 tion adapted to slidably support sa1 ment, of a dust guard disposed in said leg brackets for retaining said dust guard depending within" said leg portion, and set screws screw. adapted to engage saidguide strips for adjust'ably position relative to said guide .strips.
In testimony whereof -I have affixed my signature.
HUGO WOHLGEMUTH.
