My invention relatesto new and useful improvements in girdles and has for an object to provide a garment which will snugl encircle the formofthewearer. y Still anotherV object ofthe invention is to provide a girdle having hose supporters secured to certain portions thereof so thatV when the garment is in use and the hose supporters fastened to the stockings, 'the l0 girdle willy be tightly anchored in place and cannot ride up or slip up on the wearer.`

With these and other objects in view, the

invention Consists in certain new and novel 'arrangements and combination offparts as will be hereinafter more fully described and pointedout inthe claims.` f Referring now to the drawings showing a preferred embodiment of the invention,

Referring now to the drawings, more in detail, there is shown `in Fig. 1, a girdle comprising the back piece 1, which is preferably formed of an inelastic cloth Vmaterial similar to that used in the manufacture of all corsets. The material, or girdle as a whole, is reinforced by the .plurality of ribs or stays 2 which extend throughout the width of the garment.

In the formation of this garment, there is secured to the opposite ends ofthe back piece 1, the two pieces of elastic material 3, which pieces are designed to stretch hori zontally rather than vertically, and, as may be seen in Fig. 2, the length of 'the'back piece and elastic material is such that these two pieces of elastic material are arranged to come directly over the hips of the wearer, so that a certain freedom of movement lis obtained which would not otherwise be the case.

As may be seen in the several gures, the front of the garment is formed preferably of two pieces, that is, there is a piece 4attachedalong the freeedge of one of theelastic pieces of material 3. rIhis front piece 4- is also reinforced by three staysf and is provided along-its free edge with the usual row V oov The other end of the garment comprises l the piece 7 which', together with the pieceof hooks 6. The girdle is relatively narrow in --width,

so that it 4will not encumber thefwearer, and

Referring now to Figs. 2, 3 and 4, and first -to Fig. v3, it will be noticed that the supporter lO'fastens to the lstocking 22 in the rear, whereas the supporter 12 with a double strap will extend to the front of the stocking. In a like manner the hose supporter 18 comprising the single strap will be secured to the stocking in the rear, whereas the sup-y v porter with the double stra will be secured to the front ofthe stoC ing.
