My present invention relates to an improved nether garment and more particularly to the type of figure control garment conventionally described as a girdle and comprising an elastic body adapted to tightly enclose the mid-portion of the body to support the abdomen and otherwise improve the appearance of the body of the wearer.

In the present type of girdle generally available, the garment is inclined to creep up due to the elasticity of the material necessary in its construction, and it is the principal purpose of my invention herein set forth to present such a nether garment embodying a structure which will inhibit the upward movement thereof while still remaining comfortable to the wearer.

In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may u be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claims.

Figure 1 is a front perspective View of the garment of my invention.

Figure 2 is a rear perspective View thereof.

Figure 3 is a front perspective view showing the crotch panel in detached position; and

Figure 4 is a front perspective View of a modin fied form of the garment of my invention.

Referring now to the drawings, I have illus trated the nether garment of my invention as embodying the multiple elastic sections 2 stitched as at 3 to form the girdle shown tapering upwardly as at 4. A multiple closure S is she-wn with the operator l being disposed vertically of the garment and about the lower edge of the girdle I have secured a peripheral band 9, the ends of which are provided with buttonholes 9. This band is also elastic but due to the shape thereof and the position on the girdle, the band will tend to prevent the creeping up of the girdle inasmuch as the band will normally be positioned just below the hips of the wearer.

The lower portion of the girdle near the front central portion is provided with a series of buttons to which the buttonholes of the band 9 are secured.

To further insure against the slipping up of the girdle I utilize a crotch panel I2 which is secured to the rear of the girdle by stitching as at I3 and this panel is formed with elastic inserts ld along the edges thereof and' is also provided with rounded insets I6 at the junction of the panel with the rear of the girdle.

Buttonholes I8 near the free end of the crotch panel are provided for coaction with the buttons I Vand the panel is secured on the buttons and the ends of the band 8 are superimposed thereon.

The rounded inset portions I6 will tend to keep the crotch panel ilat as will the series of button holes secured to the girdle buttons, and the elastic inserts in the panel will afford a resilience adding to the comfort of the wearer.

In Figure 4 I have shown a modified form of the girdle of my invention wherein an adjustment in the girth of the girdle is provided by the lacing l, and in addition stocking garter clasps 29 are secured to the girdle =by the elastic strips 22.

From the above description it will be apparent that the girdle of my invention will be superior to the conventional garment and the incorporated features above described will prevent the common fault of such elastic girdles in creeping up upon the wearer resulting in discomfort and the defeating of the purpose for which the garments were designed.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A nether garment comprising a plurality of elastic panel sections stitched together to form a girdle portion tapering upwardly from its bottom edge, a slide fastener arrangement in one of the sections to facilitate the placing of 'the girdle portion on the body and the removal of the same therefrom, a peripheral elastic band stitched about the bottom edge of the girdle portion and having free ends terminating at the front thereof, the ends of said bands having fastening means for the securement of the same upon the front central portion of the girdle portion, cooperating fastening means on the front central portion for receiving the fastening means of the elastic band, a crotch panel secured to the rear central portion of the girdle portion and adapted to be extended under the bottom of the girdle portion and between the legs of the wearer, fastening means on the crotch panel adapted for the connection of the same with the cooperating fastening means on the front central portion of the girdle portion.

2. A nether garment as defined in claim 1 and the front end of the crotch panel being adapted to be extended beneath the free ends of the elastic band and to the fastening means on the front central portion securing the free ends of the elastic band thereto.
