UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD BROWN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
IMPROVEMENT IN LAMP-FOUNTS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,965, dated June 29, 1875; application filed May 15, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD BROWN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Lamp-Fount, of which the following is a specification:
The accompanying drawing represents a sec tio'ual side elcxation of my improved lampfount.
Lampfounts have been constructed with a central conical bottom cavity, for the purpose of adapting them for attachment to the burner of a gas-fixture. The burner must, however, be of peculiar form, else the fount cannot be properly secured to it.
My invention relates to the combination, with a globebracket, of a lamp -fou11t, constructed with a thin curved circular bottom flange around the central conical cavity therein, as hereinafter described.
In the drawing, A represents a glass lamp,
fount, or bowl, suitable for containing petroleum or other burning-oil. The fount is blown with a conical tube, B, in its bottom portion,
forming a conical cavity adapted to receive the burner of a gas-fixture. A thin circular flange, G, is cast in one piece with the fount A, and preferably forms an exterior continuation of the tube B. The flan ge is curved outward similar to flanges formed on the glass globes ordinarily applied to gas-fixtures, so that a suflicient space is left between it and the body of the fount to receive the fasteningscrew ot' the bracket.
What I claim is The combination, with the g'lObebracket, of
E DVVARD BROYVN.
