c. w. HUCKlNS'i TOY Filed Dec. 18, 1924 Patented Nov. 15, 1927.
UNITED STATES CHARLES W. HUCKINS, OF SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
TOY.
Application filed December 18, 1924. Serial No. 756,660.
The invention is a toy with the rear wheels on eccentrics so that it will have an upward and downward motion.
The object of the invention is to provide a toy in which the body has. an upward and downward motion.
And a further object of the invention is to provide a toy that resembles a rabbit, and that is of a simple, durable and economical construction. 7
\Vith these ends in view the invention embodies a toy in the form of a rabbit having eccentric wheels at the rear.
- and numeral 3 the frontwheels.
In the design shown, the wheels 2 are directly mounted on a pin 4 which passes through the body, and the body may be reinforced by blocks 5 as shown in dotted lines, if desired. Thefront wheels 3 may be replaced by a single roller between the feet and the ears which I have indicated by the numeral 6 may be pivotally mounted on a pin 7, so that they may be moved backward and forward, so that they may be readily adjusted, to convey different expressions.
A rod 8 may be attached to the wheel 2 and also to the ears 6, so that the cars will move backward and forward as the rabbit moves; and another rod 9 may be connected from the wheel 2 to the front legs so that the front legs will move backward and forward as the rabbit moves. It is also understood that either of these connections may be omitted, or that they may operate in unison or alternately as may be desired.
It will be understood that other changes may be made in the construction without departing from'the spirit of the invention. One of which changes may be in the use of any other means for providing the up and down motion, and another may be in the use of any other suitable means for propelling the device.
The construction will be readily under stood from the foregoing description. To use the'toy it is drawn along fiat surfaces by a cord or the like. 7
Having thus fully described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
In a toy, a figure representing a rabbit, with large wheels supporting the rear of said rabbit, said wheels being mounted on a shaft or axle passing through the body of the said rabbit, front legs formed by a strip, mounted on a shaft or axle passing through the body of the said rabbit and having small wheels mounted on the ends of the legs to enable the legs to move, ears formed of a strip and mounted on an axle or shaft passing through the head of said rabbit to enable the ears to be moved, a rod connected off center of the rear wheel axle and on the center of the front legs causing the legs to move forward and backward as the rear wheels move, a rod connected off center of the rear wheel axle and on the center of the ears, causing the ears to move forward and backward as the rear wheels rotate.
