It is frequently the practice of individuals to order merchandise or garments sent home on approval and after wearing or otherwise using the garment fora purpose other than that for which it was sent, to return the same to the storefor credit or exchange.

Attempts have hitherto been made to-prevent this practice by so associatlng or pinning the marking ticketto the fabric or garment that it cannot be detached therefrom without detection and one character of device that has been developed for this purpose provides an arrangement whereby the pin ticket consists of two folds of substantially equal length with one fold secured by a pin directly to the fabric orgarment, and the other fold secured to the second fold so as to prevent the pin being reached and manipulated without detection.

This arrangement necessitates the use of substantially double the amount of material than is actually required for the pin ticket markings themselves, and, in addition, in such arrangements, the pin is positioned longitudinally of the pin ticket with the obvious inconveniences that arise therefrom when it is desired to handle the cloth or when it is desired to make notations on the pin ticket.

Where I have attempted to overcome the objection incident to the use of the extra amount of material as in my Patent No. 1,492,552, granted May 6, 1924, by using a shorter upper flap which covers only the pin head, I have found that this arrangement does not avoid the objection incident to the positioning of the pin longitudinally of the pin ticket, and in addition, exposes a portion of the pin to view with the possibility that as a result of this the pin may be reached and manipulated.

One of the objects of my invention, therefore, is the provision of an arrangement whereby on the one hand, I position the pin which secures the pin ticket to the fabric or other article of merchandise, transversely of the ticket and on the other hand, employ Renewed September 28, 1927.

Another obje ct of my invention is the provision of a now, simple and inexpensive manner of attaching the pin ticket to a fabric or garment so that the ticket cannot be removed without detection. i

The pin ticket is preferably formed of any preferred or desired character of material such as relatively heavy paperstock or linen and may be given any preferred or desired dimensions and shape.

It comprises generally the pin ticket proper 11 and the flap 12 which are jointed along the line 13 which may be preliminarily scored or otherwise weakened or marked for convenience in folding.

It will be observed that upon viewing Fig. 1 of the drawing, that the upper part 14 of the pin ticket proper 11 which corresponds in dimensions with those of the flap 12 is a blank for reasons that will be understood. The various information which it is desired to place upon this pin ticket appears preferably below this space as indicated at 15 in the drawings. The flap or fold 12 is gummed on its upper surface as shown at 19.

In the use of this type of pin ticket, apin 16 is inserted transversely of the space 14 as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing, and for this purpose, perforations may be provided, if desired, and the gummed upper surface 19 of the fold 12, then moistened or otherwise softened and the flap 12 then folded down on top of the pin ticket proper 11 thus sealing the pin on all sides and preventing manipulation of the pin without detection. Having thus described my invention and illustrated its use, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a device of the character described, in combination, a substantially flat pin ticket having a pin carrying portion adapted to be attached to the fabric, a flap of less length than the pin carrying portion and adapted to be folded over and over an adjacent part of the pin carrying portion, a pin to be passed through the pin carrying portion transversely thereof for securing the ticket to a fabric and of less length than the width of such pin carrying portion, said pin being so positioned on the pin carrying portion, with reference to the dimensions and position of the flap, that when the flap is folded down on said pincarrying portion, it will completely cover the pin and-extend therebeyond in all directions and adhesive means for securing said flap tothe pin carrying portion only so as completely to enclose and seal in the pin and prevent itbeing reached without disruption of the parts of the ticket. 2. In a device of the character described,
