GAs HEATING STOVE.
Application filed January 21. 1926. Serial No. 22,734.
The main objects of this invention are;
First, to provide an improved heating stove which is well adapted to be mounted upon a wall and for use in rooms such as y bathrooms and the like. i I i Second, to provide an improved heating stove which is very elficient and is compact and attractive in appearance. f

in the embodiment illustrated, the casing comprises a back wall 1, end walls 2, 2, a bottom 3 and a top 4,.these parts being sheet metal stampings. i p
The back wall is provided with bead-like rolls 5 at its vertical edges which are engaged within the bead-like rolls 6 at the rear edges of the end walls 2, see Fig. 3. The top and bottom overlap the edges of these back and end walls, the edges of the top and bottom having rear flanges 8 and side flanges 9 embracing these walls, Tie bolts 10 are arranged through the beads and through the top and bottom walls clamping these parts together.
The bottom wall 3 has a series of air inlet openings 11 therein, these openings being covered by the shield 12. The shield is supported by tongues .13 struck inwardly be used successfully.

A base plate 14 is arranged in coacting relation to the bottom wall to provide a' burner chamber 15. Thetront edge of the bottom wall 3 has a. bead-like roll 16 therein which is embraced by a curved flange or roll 17 out-he base plate. Above the inner back wall 18 is a flue 22 having a flat bottom wall 23. This bottom wall has a bead-likeroll 23 at its front edge which is embraced by a coacting roll 25 on the trout edge of the top 4. -Uprights 26 having projecting ears 27 at the ends thereof a re $"ill'@(l to the edges of the reflector with the ears 2? at the ends-of the beads 16, 17, 24 and 25. Tie rods 28 are arranged through these beads and the cars 27, thus clamping the parts together.
The uprights 26 overlap the front edges of the end walls providing a finish there-for as well as a supporting member for the parts. The base plate 141. is further supported on lugs 29 on the end walls.
Cup-like radiating element and chimney supports 30 are mounted on the base plate and adapted to receive and support the chimneys 31 with their upper ends projectmg through openings 32 provlded therefor in the bottom plate 23 of the flue 22. This line opens at its ends through openings 33 in the end walls. These supports 30 also support the radiating elements or mantles 34% which are in the embodiment illustrated, formed of nichrome wire screens. Other mantles or radiating elements, however, may
The holders or supports 30 are provided with air inlet openings 35 for the admission of air to the chimneys between the radiating elements and the chimneys. The base plate 14 has a series of holes 36 in front of and adacent to the reflector, allowing air to circulate against the inner surface of the reflector. I use the term reflector in the broad sense. The same need not necessarily be a polished surface although I have found polished copper very satisfactory.
The burner 37 is arranged in the burner hamber and is of the Bunson type, having air inlet openings 38 within the burner chamber 15. the burner tube 39 projecting centrally of the burner body which has a discharge member 40 at one side carrying the tips 4-1 which are properly alined with the radiating elements 84.
A gas regulating member 42 is threaded into the burner body opposite the end of the tube 39 for regulating the discharge of gas It is not intended that this shall be adjusted as a valve but that it shall be adjusted according to the average gas pressure. The gas is controlled by the valve shown conventionally at 43.
With this arrangement of parts I provide a heater which is highly etlicient and is well adapted for use in rooms such as bathrooms. and can be readily mounted upon the wall. The combustion is etficient so there is little likelihood of noxious gases being discharged. There is also little likelihood of back-firing, the heater being lighted by opening the valve 43 and applying a match at one end or the other of the flue 22. I have found that the gas ignites readily with very little explosive effect or action.
here a plurality of chimneys is used as in the structure illustrated, the chimneys are preferably disposed in spaced relation and in spaced relation to the reflector so that the heat rays are effectively reflected and radiated. The chimneys are preferably of translucent glass resulting in a soft illuminating glow and at the same time of high heat efliciency.
I have illustrated and described my improvements in an embodiment which I have found highly satisfactory. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain embodiments or adaptations which I contemplate as I believe the disclosure made will enable those skilled in the art to which the invention relates to embody or adapt the same as may be desired.
'Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let- I ters Patent is:
1. In a structure of the class described, the combination, of a casing comprising a back wall and end walls having co-engaging bead-like, rolls at the meeting edges thereof and top and bottom walls overlapping the top and bottom edges of said back and end walls-tie bolts arranged through said coengaging rolls and said top and bottom walls. a base plate disposed in spaced relation to the bottom wall of the casing and coacting therewith to provide a burner chamber, a reflector mounted on said base plate, a chimney, a radiating element within said chimney, and a burner in said burner chamber coacting with said radiating element.
2. In a structure of the class described, the combination of. a casing comprising a back wall, end walls and top and bottom walls. a base plate disposed in spaced relation to the bottom wall of the casing and coacting therewith to provide a burner chamber, a curved reflector mounted on said base plate, there being air openings through said base plate in front of and adjacent to the said reflector, the reflector being spaced from the walls of the casing providing an air circulating space, uprights secured to the front edges of the said reflector and overlapping'the front edges of said end walls. the casing top and bottom walls and said base plate and flue bottom having co-engaging bead-like rolls at their front edges. said uprights having eyes at their ends disposed at the ends of said co-engaging rolls, tie bolts arranged through said ears and said rolls, a radiating element, and a burner in said burner chamber coacting with said radiating element.
3. In a structure of the class described. the combination of a casing comprising back and end walls and a top and bottom, the bottom wall having screened air inlet openings therein and the top wall having vent. openings. a base plate disposed in spaced relation to the bottom wall of the casing and coacting therewith to provide a burner chamber, radiating element and chimney holders mounted on said base plate. a reflector mounted above said base plate, there being air inlet openings through the base plate in front of and adjacent to said reflector. the reflector being spaced from the walls of the casing providing an air circulating space, chimneys mounted on said chimney holders, radiating elements mounted in said holders, said holders having. air inlet openings between said chimneys and radiating elements. and a burner disposed within said burner chamber and provided with a primary air inlet opening within said chamber. said burner having tips disposed in coacting relation to said radiating elements.
4. In a structure of the class described. the combination of a casing comprising back and end walls and a top and bottom. a base plate disposed in spaced relation to the bottom wall of the casing and coacting therewith to provide a burner chamber. radiating element and chimney holders mounted on said base plate, a reflector mounted above said base plate, a flue having a flat bottom disposed on the upper edge of said reflector. said flue bottom having openings therein. chimneys mounted on said chimney holders with their upper ends disposed through said flue bottom, radiating elements mounted in said holders, and a burner disposed within said burner chamber, said burner having tips disposed in coacting relation to said radiating elements.
5. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing open at the front, a base plate disposed within said casing, there beinga burner chamber below said base plate, said chamber having a shielded air inlet opening, an inner back wall mounted above said base plate and spaced fromthe Walls of the casing providing an air circulating space opening to said burner chamber, the casing having vent openings at the top, radiating element and chimney holde's mounted on said base plate, chimneys mounted on said holders, radiating elements mounted in said holders, said holders having air inlet openings above said base plate and between the chimneys and radiating elements, and a burner disposed within said burner chamber and provided with a primary air inlet within said chamber, said burner having tips disposed in coacting rela tion to said radiating elements.
6. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing open'at the front, a base plate disposed withinsaid casing, there being a burner chamber below said base plate, said chamber having a shielded air inlet opening, radiating element and chimney holders mounted on said base plate, chimneys mounted on said holders, radiating elements mounted in said holders, and a burner disposed within said burner chamber and provided with a primary air inlet within said chamber, said burner having tips disposed in coacting relation to said radiating elements.
7. In a structure of the class described, the combinatiomot a casing, a base plate disposed within said casing, an inner back wall above said base plate, said back wall being spaced from the rear wall of the casing providing an air circulating space opening to said burner chamber, the casing having vent openings at the top, a flue at the top of said casing, a radiating element and chimney holder mounted on said base plate, a chin1- ney mounted on said holder with its upper end opening to said flue, the space surrounding the chimney not being in communication with the flue, a radiatingelement mounted on said holder, said holder having air inlet openings above said base plate and between the chimney and the radiating element, and a burner disposed below said base plate in coacting relation to said radiating element.
8. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing, a base plate disposed within said casing, a radiating element and chimney holder mounted on said base plate, a chimney mounted on said holder, a radiating element mounted on said holder, said holder having air inlet openings above said base plate and between the chimney and the radiating element, and a burner disposed below saidbase plate in coacting relation to said radiating element.
9. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing, a base plate disposed within said casing. an inner back wall above said base plate, .said back wall being spaced from the rear wall of the casing providing an air circulating space opening to said burner chamber, the casing having vent openings at the top, a radiating element and chimney holder mounted on said base plate,
a chimney mounted on said holder, a radiating element mounted on said holder, said holder having air inlet openings above said base plate and between the chimney and the radiating element, and a burner disposed below said base plate in coacting relation to said radiating element.
10. In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing open at the front, a base plate disposed within said casing, an inner back wall, there being air inlet openings through the base plate in front of and adjacent to said inner back wall, said inner back wall being spaced from the walls of the casing providing an air circulating space opening to said burner chamber, the

14. In a structureof the class described, the combination of a casing. a base plate disposed within said casing. there being a burner chamberhelow said base plate, said chamber having a shielded air inlet opening,

In a structure of the class described, the combination of a casing, a base plate disposed within said casing, there being a space opening to said burner chamber. thev casing havingvent openings at the top. radiating elements, and a burner disposed within said burner chamber and provided with a primary air inlet within said chamber. said burner having tips disposed in ('OfiCtlIifI re" lation to said radiating elements.
