UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ANDREW AITKEN, OF WELLS RIVER, VERMONT.
IMPROVEMENT IN IRONING AND KITCHEN TABLES.
Spetification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,704. dated June 22, 1875; application filed April 24, 1875.
To all whom it may concerni Be it known that I, ANDREW AITKEN, of WVells River, in the county of Orange and State of Vermont, have invented a new and Improved Combined Table and Ironing-Board, of which the'following is a specification:
1n the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 represents a perspective view of my improved table and ironing-board coutbined, placed into position for ironing; and Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively vertical longitudinal and transverse sections on the lines y 3 Fig. 3, and w m, Fig. 2, of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The invention will first be described in connection with drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
In the drawing, A represents a table of suitable dimensions, with extension-leaves A hinged thereto at both sides. One end of the The drawer is then pushed in until the upright frame comes in contact with the top of the table, to which it is locked by a suitable fastening device. The ironing-board F is then secured to the upper slotted part of frame E and fastened thereto, resting also by a bottom support, F with recessed ends on the table at such height that the sleeve-board F pivoted to its under side, may be readily swung to either side for use.
When the ironing is completed the board is detached, the frame released from the table and folded down into the drawer until required again for use.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of a table and a swinging frame pivoted for folding into a sliding drawer, with an ironing-board supported on frame and table, substantially in the manner and for the purpose set forth.
ANDREW AITKEN. Witnesses:
