IPLOW ATTACHMENT.
Application filed July 25, 1925.
This invention relates to a plow attachment and more particularly to a device of this kind especially adapted for use in connection with a steel plow beam, and it is an object of the invention to provide an attachment which serves as an extra foot to provide for subsoiling or for other purposes as may be desired.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of our im proved plow attachment whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth. I
The novel features of our invention will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that our invention may be the better understood, we will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein 1-- Figure 1 is a view in side elevation illustrating a plow attachment constructed in accordance with an embodiment of our invention in applied position;
Figure 2 is a view in perspective of our improved attachment unapplied.
As disclosed in the accompanying drawings, B denotes a steel plow beam of a conventional type with which our improved foot attachment is adapted to be employed.
As herein disclosed, the attachment A comprises a pair of substantially duplicate members in desired spaced relation and arranged side by side, each of said members having a straight portion 1 provided at its outer end with a cross head 2 and with its opposite end portion disposed on a suitable curvature, as at 1, said outer end portion of one of the members being connected to the adjacent end of the second member by the intermediate plate 3 preferably integrally formed therewith and providing a rounded lower end Wall.
The members are disposed at opposite sides of the beam B with the portions 1 thereof forwardly directed and with the heads 2 clamped to the beam, said heads being pro- Serial No. 46,082.
vided with the openings 4: to provide such connection. The portion 1 of each of the members immediately adjacent to the curved portion 1 is provided with a series of 1011- gitu-dinally spaced openings 5 to provide means whereby said portion of each of the members may be adjustably connected to the beam B by the bolt 6 generally employed for attaching the brace irons 7 to the beam.
When applied, the curved portion 1 is downwardly disposed at a point rearwardly of the main plow P and the lower or free end of the attachment is adapted to have attached thereto through the medium of a conventional heel-pin a subsoiler plow or other auxiliary plow as may be desired.
The adjustment afforded by the openings 5 permits the requisite setting of the foot attachment.
Any shovel scooter or scrape plow may be engaged with our foot attachment as may be desired. a
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a plow attachment constructed in accordance with our invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and oper ated, and it will also be obvious that our invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from the principles and spirit thereof and for this rea' son we do not wish to be understood as limiting ourselves to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out our invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
'We claim The combination with a plow beam having one end provided with 2. depending foot, handle braces, and a bolt for-attaching said braces to the beam; of a supplemental foot pivoted on said bolt and having one end portion substantially straight and its opposite end portion curved said supplemental foot comprising two duplicate members arranged side by side, said duplicate members having their straight portions arranged at opposite sides of the beam, a plate interposed between and connecting the outer extremities of the posed openings for selectively receiving the bolt for adjustably connecting said extremi ties to the beam.
In testimony whereof We hereunto aifix our signatures.
JOEL HOLLEY. SIMON HOLLEY.
