UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES SUMMERFIELD BITLER, OF DELAWARE, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN SAD-IRON HEATERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,513, dated J une 15, 1875 application filed February 12, 1875.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J. S. BITLER, of Delaware, in the county of Delaware and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sad-Iron Heaters; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved sad-iron heater, and Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse section of the same with its cover closed. 1
Corresponding parts in the two figures are designated by like letters.
This invention relates to a certain improvement in sad-iron heaters; and it consists of a receptacle with an inclined bottom. and a supporting rim or flange, the said parts being constructed as described, in combination with an inclined topped cover to inclose the iron the upper edge of the receptacle A is a flange or rim, a, to support it when let into the stove, and which may be provided with apertures or other suitable means for conveniently grasping the heater in adjusting it upon and removing it from the stove. It will be observed that the front and rear walls of the receptacle A, its bottom A, and portions of the flange a are pressed into shape or formed from one piece, and its end walls and the remaining or end portions of the said flange also pressed into shape or formed from two pieces, the heater proper thus consisting of but three parts. a is the cover, with its top inclining or sloping toward the rear of the heater, conforming it to the angular position of and inclosing the iron handles, to further facilitate the heating of the irons.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and, desire to secure by Letters Patcut, is
An improved sad-iron heater, consisting of the receptacle A, having the inclined bottom A and supporting flange a, constructed as shown and described, in combination with the inclined topped cover a, substantially as specified.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JAMES SUMMERFIELD BITLER.
