Description
PATENT OFFICE.
MATTHEW LITTLE, OF EAST SAGINAW, MICHIGAN, ASSIGNOR TO AMANDA M. STARKER, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FLAT-IRON HEATER.
Specification forming part of Design No. 5,810, dated April 23, 1872.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MATTHEW LITTLE, of East Saginaw, in the county of Saginaw and State of Michigan, have invented a new De sign for a Flat-Iron Heater; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming part of this specification, in which is represented a perspective view.
This invention relates to that class of flatiron-heaters in which the utensil is constructed to fit upon the stoves holes like a common griddle; and the invention consists in an improved shape and configuration of such articles of manufacture, as I will now proceed to describe.
In the drawing, A is a flat east-iron plate, provided with lugs to hold the bail, one of which is seen at a, with feet e e underneath, and with an ornamental bead, 0', extending 4 around its upper edge, as shown. B B are two flat-iron receptacles, arranged side by side, each provided with a slotted cover, b, as shown, said covers likewise having an ornamental bead, 1'', around their edges. The front walls of the receptacles B B are extended into a kind of vertical lug, (I, which is embraced by and pivoted to lugs m m cast upon the covers to form a hinged joint for them. The under side of the plate or griddle A is flat and smooth, except where the uniformity of its surface is broken by the feet 6. A circular opening, covered by a small round griddle, S, having a bead, .9, around its edge, may be provided between the front ends of the receptacles B B, as shown.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for flat-iron heaters, substan tially as herein described and shown.
MATTHEW LITTLE.
