With the above and numerous'otherobjects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in certain' novel features of Construction, and in the combinaton and arrangement of parts as Will be hereinafterrnore fully described and claimed.
In the drawing: Figure 1 is a. side elevation of a saw with my contrivance engaged therewith, Fig. 2 is an enlarged section taken sub stantially on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary detail perspective View of the device showing the parts disassembled,
Fig. 4 is an enlarged detail section taken substantially on the, line 4-4 of Fi 1.
Referring to the drawing in detail it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes an elongated block which is provided with a kerf 6 t-herein extending 'inwardly from one i longitudinal edge. Two bores 7 eXtend through the block 5 in spaced relation to each other. Each bore extends from one longitudinal edge to the other. `The kerf 6 and bores 7 are communicated as is clearly illustrated in Fig. 3 of the drawing. The bottom longitudinal edge of the block 5 is provided with a pair of recesses 8 one adjacent each bore 7 and these recesses 8 comnunicate with the bore as indicated at 9. i Pins 10 are rotatably mounted in the bores 7 and have longitudinally extending kerfs 11 beginning at their upper ends and ter'- V ninating a distance from their lower ends. Lugs 12' extend from the lower ends of the pins 11 through the spaces 9 into the re- Qenan@ .end l atie &hcl h id th reo e e provide-a eni-c ca! a nel& and h ther ide' pr v ded h a ;the l ter o th *.eacled` te i; out a ppi t to and may be easily dismounted therefrom.
A nut 20 is threaded on the shank 16 and from rotation since its bottom face engages the bottom of the casng 12.
From the above detailed description it i will be seen that thetoothed edge of the saw may be inserted in the kerfs 6 and 11 to assume the position shown clearly in Figs. 1 and 2. The knobs or heads 18 may then be ,turnedso as to move the nuts 20 thereby *turnng the pins 10 so that said pins will attain a binding grip on the saw to prevent the displacenent of the block from the saw. n
Thus the saw protected and is prevented from cutting or scratching other articles. The devce s capable of being quickly and easily engaged With and disengaged from .7
the saw. The parts of the contrivance are cap'ab-le of being quickly assembled or disassembled. r
It is thought that the Construction, operation, utility, and advantages of this invention will now be clearly understood by those skilled in this art without a more detailed description thereof. The present embodiment of the invention 'has been disclosed in detal since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desrable in the statement of the invention and the above description. It Will be apparent he'einafter claimed or sacrifieng any of its advanta es.
Having t us described my invention, what I claim as new is `1. A eontrivunce of the class described conprisng a block provided with a kerf for reeeving the toothed edge of a saw, sind block hen provided with a bore communicating wit 1 the kerf a pin rotatahle in the bore provided with :L kerf registrable with the first mentioned ke'f for* receiving the toothed edge of the saw,` and meaisfor turni'n the pin so that the said pin will obtain a finding grip on said saw.
2. A contrivanee of the class i described oonprisngj a blockprovided with n kerf for receving the toothed edge of a saw, said block being provided with 21 bore communicatig with the kerf, u pin rotztable 'in the boreprovded` with a kerf registrble with the first netioned kerf for receivii the toothed edge of thesaw the block eing provided With a recess et one edge in `communication with the hore,eaid pin having {L lugp'ojeoting into the recess, a` casngeb ga ed on the block, a threaded shank journa ed in the casing, a nut on the threaded shanit, a pair ot wings rojecting from the nnt to receive the luge terebetween.`
A eontrivanee of the class described conp'ising a block provided with a kerf 'or reeeiving the toothed edge of :L saw, said block being provided with a bore communiitng with thekerf, a pin rotatable in the bore provided with kerf registrable with the first mentioned kerf for receving the toothed edge of the saw, theblock being provided with ;L reeess `at one edge in conmunieution with the bo'e,` said pin having a lig projeeting into the recess, a casing engztged on the block, zt threaded shank journaled in the -asing, a nut on the threaded shaink, it pair oi" wings projectng fron the nut to re-` ceivethe lugs therebetween, said Casing being snbstu'tially U-shped in cross section having one side struekoutwardly to form :1 coiical shuped hearing and the other side proi 'ided with :i hearing slot, .said shani: having u 'edueed portion at one end to be jour neled in the slot and a pointed projection` at its other end journaledin` the recess. i In testimony Whereof I ahx my signature;
