Application med September 8, 1926. Serial No. 134,307.
A more specific object of the invention is the provision of a display 'case comprising two hingedly connected sections which completely form the case, the sections being .of unequal cross sectional dimensions and dissimilar in shape, as the result of which one section may be disposed in anv inclined or displaying position when the Sections are in an open relationship. g
With the foregoing, other ob]ects of the invention will appear from the embodiment of the invention which by Way of 'example is described in the Jfollowing specification and illustrated in the laccompanying drawings, in whichy Figure l is a perspective view of the box or case with the sections thereof in their opened displaying relationship.
Fig. 2 is a transverse sectional view through the sections of the box or-case in an opened relationship. o
Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view with the sections of the box or case in a closed relationship.
In accordance with the present invention a display box or case is produced from twp sections, a section 10 and a section 11. The section 10 comprises a top 12, ends 13, sides 14, and a bottom portion 15. Each of the ends 13 is L-sliaped, and when the top, ends,
- sides and bottom portion are connected together the section 10 will be L-shaped in cross section.
` The section 11 com rises a bottom 16, ends 17, and a side `18 Wi 17 and the side 18 are connected together they form the section 11, which will be open at one side, and which will be complemental en the bottom 16, ends v such as leather, imitation leather, or fabric,
the said covering beingapplied in any preferred manner so .as to completely envelop or cover the parts of the two sections 10 and 11. Arranged oii the insides of the sections 10 and 11 is a lining 20 such as muslin which will be secured in any preferred manner. Portions of the covering 19 and the lining 20 provide a hingedv connection at 2l at the point where one edge of the bottom 16 of the section 11 abuts one edge of the bottom portion 15 of the section 10, when. the sections 10 and 11 are in a closed relationship. The said hinged connection 21 will extend the entire length of the sections 10'andr11. The section 10 has arranged therein a pad 22. The section 11 has arranged therein a pad 23. The padl 23 may be permanently secured,` or the same maybe removable. The pad 23 carries the article lcifg'ewelry, and in accordance with the present invention the section 11 will be the displaying section, because it will be held in an inclined position by virtue of the construction and manner oi connection ot the sections v10 and 11 as described hereinabove. The section 11 carries a suitable catch 24 which engages in a recess in a portion of the section 10 to releasably maintain the sections 10 and 11 .in a closed relationship, as shown in Fig. 3.
From the foregoing, it will be apparent that, when the catch 24 is manipulated, the sections l10 and 11 may be opened, and when placed on a ksuitable support or horizontal plane, the section 11 will be held inclined with one portion resting on the support, while one side of the section 10 will also .rest on the support, as shown most clearly spicuously displayed without requiring any prior manui ulation other than the mere opening of t e sections and the placing of the box or case in such opened condition on a suitable rest or support.
I claim:
A dis lay case comprising a, substantially L-shape oase forming section, u display case forming section open at one side, means connecting said sections together to provide a hinged' connect-ion between the sections,m1d a pad carried by the display section projecting from the open side thereof, the pad being substantially equal in width to the inside width of the L-shaped section.
