HAND CARRYING DEVICE.

The object of the invention is to provide a convenient rolling carrying device for conveying light loads, parcels and the like, which would hardly require a cart and which are difficult to convey without one. The carrying device according to my invent on must further be portable without causing 1nconvenience to the bearer or to others. Itmust also be light enough tobe suited to the use of women. For this reason and others the invention consists of a combination of parts hereinafter described and set forth in the claims. The drawings show a preferred form of my invention.

The device shown consists ofa stick 1,
preferably a walking stick with a crooked handle. The stick is provided with two fittings 2 consisting of metal strips laid around the stick and fastened thereto, each being provided with a ring on that side of the stick where the handle is located. A bag 8 is secured to the fittings and the stick, the said bag being preferably of network. A string or cord passes at intervals through the bag from one fitting to the other, being wound several times around the stick and a run of the material of the bag in such manner that the latter is secured to the stick throughout its entire length. The upper opening of the net or bag 3 is closed by pulling a string passed through its border. At the lower end of the stick is a roller 6 secured to the ferrule 5 of the stick.
The model shown is an attractive object for daily use in cities and especially suitable for the use of women who occasionally have to convey home voluminous objects While on errands. In such cases the device as shown is pulled along behind by the ham-- dle of the stick and frees the user from the greater part of the burden, whereby the clothes are saved from the wear and tear caused when the objects or parcels are carried by hand. The device can be carried empty in the hand in precisely the same manner as a cane or an umbrella. For the sake of appearances the net and the fittings 2 may be made removable and in like manner the ferrule 5 together with the roller 6. Means must be provided, however, for securing the fittings and the ferrule firmly to the stick. The bag can also be wrapped up around the 172,948, and in Germany February 5, 1926.

The device can, however, also be made in heavy construction and equipped with a bag of heavy fabric, leather or the like for carrying more voluminous loads and heavier parcels. In this event the stick can be prolonged to a mans length, if desired, and the roller 6 made large and broad enough to run on unpaved roads.
By securing the bag throughout its entire length to the stick it is very easy to fill. The stick can readily be hun up anywhere by means of its crooked hanc le, in which event it is only necessary to hold open the bag with one hand and allow the objects to be carried to slip conveniently to the bottom or to stack them one upon the other. The manner in .which the bag is fastened also prevents it from swinging to and fro while in use.
Having now more fully described and ascertained the nature of my invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, I claim:
1. A hand carrying device consisting of a stick provided with a handle at its upper end and a roller at its lower end, two separated fittings secured to said stick between its upper and lower ends, a bag of network and a string passed at intervals through said bag and tightly around said stick between said separated fittings and secured to said fittings in such a manner that the bag is secured to and below the stick throughout its entire length and prevented from slipping to the lower end of the stick or oscillate on the same.
2. A hand carrying device consisting of a stick provided with a crooked handle at its upper end and a roller at its lower end, two
separated fittings secured to said stick between its upper and lower ends, each of said fittings provided with a ring on the side of the stick on which the handle is located, a bag of network and astring passed at intervals through said bag and tightly around said stick between said separated fittings and secured to said fittings in such a manner that the bag is secured to and below the stick throughout its entire length and prevented from slipping to the lower end of the stick or oscillate on the same.
