NOVELTY HANDKERCHIEF v HOLDER.
Application filed February 26, 1926. Serial No. 90,815.
This invention relates to fancy goods and has particular reference to the'construction of novelties such as handkerchief holders or other analogous devices that may be used 6 as gifts, remembrances, place cards, or the like.
Among the objects of the invention is to provide a specially constructed novel means for holdin a handkerchief or its equivalent in a peculiarly attractive manner and from which the handkerchief may be removed by the recipient, and after which the holder may be used as an ornament either alone or for the holding of other commodities.
With the foregoing and other ob ects in view the invention consists in the arrangement and combination of parts hereinafter described and claimed, and while the invention is not restricted to the exact details of construction disclosed or suggested herein,
still for the purpose of illustrating a practical embodiment thereof, reference is had to the accompanying drawings inwhich like reference characters designate the same parts in the several views, and in which- Figure 1 is a right side elevation of a preferred embodiment of the invention.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the holder after the handkerchief has been removed. Fig. 3 is avertical sectional detail on the line 33 of Fig. 2.
Fi 4 is a horizontal sectional detail onthe line 4.4 of Fig. 2.
Referring now more specifically to the sheet or plate 13 which may be decorated on the front surface to simulate a human face, said sheet being secured against the front side of the top portion of the pedestal stick 11, and being of rounded outline is held in rearwardly bent positionby means of a head covering such as a sun bonnet.
The face panel 13 is provided with a downwardly projecting point portion 13 around which is wrapped a ribbon or other fancy trimming member 15 which may extend in draped relation down to the base 10.
The bonnet structure 14 includes a back portion or hood 14 which may be pasted or otherwise fastened close a ainst the rear portion of the upper end 0 the pedestal, thereby serving the better to hold the side wing portions of the faceplate 13 in rearwardly directed position. Again, a string member 16 in the nature of a bit of ribbon may be wrapped, draped, or otherwise placed on or around the holder in any suitable position or condition. Preferably I wrap it around the pedestal in graceful folds so as to simulate clothing for'the figure, and there pinned so that the drapery is thereby held in reliable position until itis desired for it to be removed from the holder. i
It will be apparent that the lacing 15 or drapery which is coiled about the shank or pedestal 11 serves not only as a neat covering therefor but constitutes a fabric through which the fastening pins P may be passed after passing through the handkerchief.
I claim:
1. The herein described novelty handkerchief holder comprising a flat horizontal base, a pedestal extending upward therefrom and supported thereby, a head secured to the upper end of the pedestal, a head covering holding the head in proper position, and means including spirally arran ed lacing to hold the head covering and t e head in position upon the pedestal, said lacing extending around the pedestal downward to the base whereby a handkerchief attached to the pedestal to simulate clothing may readily be pinned in position for display purposes.
2. The herein described novelty handkerchief and handkerchief holder representing g V r 1,686,301
a dressed doll and comprising a pedestal, pedestal, and constituting the dress for the means to support the pedestal in .upright doll, and fastening means passing through position, a head fixed to the upper end of the handkerchief and the holding means that the pedestal, a head covering including holdsurrounds the pedestal. v k ing means for the same surrounding the In testimony whereof I afiix my signapedestal all the way down to the support: ture.
