rlhe operation of the apparatus is apparent from the above description of its construction. With Water and air under pressure suppliedk to the Aspray head, the current of air circulated in' any suitable manner through the spray chamber is effectively sprayed and saturated before the current encounters the wet bulb elements 60, so that the latter afford the .desired Wet bulb measurements. The dirt, lint and other impurities in the air are largely removed by the battle construction ot the member 2O but such remaining quantity of .foreign matter as may adhere to the Walls of the spray chamber is by the liushing action of nozzle 39. The
spray head orifice is cleared bydepression ofv plunger at the same time that nozzle 39 is operated to fiush the chamber, by the intermittent operation ot'k solenoid 51 although it will be understood, of course, that these parts may be operated by hand or by another form of motor and a small flow of Water through discharge pipe 19 is maintained by the overliow through pipe 52.
T he invention thus provides asimple,prac tical and eicient form of apparatus particularly advantageous for installation in paper and similar mills and factories Where the operation ot the common form of hygrometric apparatus would be interfered with or prevented by the presence, in large quantities, of dirt, dust, lint and other foreign matter in the air which tends to quickly clog up and effectively removed interrupt the operation of such Lapparatus Without suitable precautions Jfor taking care of lthe same. The invention likewise provides a convenient, compact and self-contained unit adapted to be installed upon an instrufw ment board With the inlet and discharge portions on the rear of the latter so that the whole presents a pleasing appearance.
I claim as my invention;
l. In a hygrometric device of the character described, the combination with a spray chamber, a spray device therein, a thermometricl element subjected to the action of' the spray, an outlet and an air inlet, of means automatically operative to remove from the spray device impurities deposited thereon including means for directing a jet of liquid against the spray device.

In a hygrometric device of the character described, the combination with a spray chamber, 'a spray nozzle for producing a spray therein, a thermometric element subjected to the' action of thespray nozzle and means automatically operative to remove from the spray nozzle impurities deposited therein, including a needle for movement through the spray nozzle, means for directing a jet of liquid against the nozzle and means for concurrently operating the needle and the jet.
