The object of this invention is to furnish a convenient screen or cover for beds, cribs, tables, &c., for the purpose of excluding flies, mosquitoes, and other insects. It consists of a cover of wire or thread netting, having a,

pivoted movable section, in combination with hinges, which attach the same to the bed-fram e, and brackets, which support the cover when raised from the bed.

In the drawing, A represents the base-frame, which is made rectangular for the semi-cylindrical form of cover, and round or elliptical for the helm-spheroidal form. Said frame is made of a size to suit the bed, crib, or table, and has permanently attached to it, in the middle of its transverse pieces, the standards B, which are connected at their tops by the longitudinal bar 0. Distended upon the pieces B and G and the sides of the frame A is .a netting, D, of wire or thread, which is held in proper shape by ribs E. F, Fig. 2, is the movable side of the cover, which is constructed of the same material, and of the same shape as the first mentioned, the only difference being that it is pivoted to the first at a, has a catch at b to fasten it to frame A, and is made a little smaller than the other half, so that it readily slides into the same when lifted to admit of access to the interior. G are hinges, which fasten the base-frame of the cover to the frame of the bed or crib, and H are brackets attached to said bed-frame to support the cover when raised from the bed.

When the entire cover is to be raised from the bed upon its hinges, the pivoted section is first pushed back so as to occupy a position near the hinges, to reduce thewleverage, and then the base-frame raised until it occupies a right-angular position with respect to the bed,- in which vertical position it is maintained by the brackets as long as may be necessary.

The hinging of the entire cover in this manner secures important advantages, in that it admits of the same being deflected from its horizontal position above the bed, for the purpose of making the bed up, changing the covers, reversing the bed, or entirely removing the latter for any causes whatever.

We propose to make the frame of this cover of any desirable material, to use netting, either of wire or thread, and to construct the cover of a hemispherical semi-elliptical or semi-cy-' lindrical form, according to the shape of the bed, crib, or table for which it is adapted.

We know that it is not new to construct hinged covers of gauze -wire for cribs, and therefore disclaim any invention, except in so far as the combination of a hinged cover with a movable section is concerned.

Having thus described our invention, what we claim as new is The cover constructed, as described, of the frame-work and the netting, and having a pivoted movable portion, F, in combination with the hinges G, the brackets H, and the frame-work of the bed or crib, substantially as and for the purpose described.
