0. 0.. LEE. MOSQUITO NET FRAME.
No. 451,331. Patented Apr; 28, 1891.

WITNESSES:
FFIQEQ CHARLES OAROLLTON LEE, OF PADUOAH, KENTUCKY.
MOSQUITO-NET FRAME.
.;- SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 451,331, dated April 28, 1891.
Application filed November 20, 1890- Serial No. 372,061: (No model.)
To coZLwhom it may concern: v
Be it known that I, CHARLES OARoLLToN LEE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Paducah, in the county of McOracken and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mosquito-Net Frames; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to canopies and screens for beds.
The object of the invention is to facilitate the raising and the lowering of the frame from the floor or by a person in a recumbent position on the bed, and securely brace the frame when raised.
The improvement consists of the novel features and the peculiar construction and combination of the parts, which will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed, and which are shown in the annexed drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the invention, showing it applied to a bed. Fig. 2 is a side view showing the net-frame folded to the standards. Fig. 3 is adetail view of the brace detached. Fig. 4 is a detail view of the casting, which is fitted on'the upper end of the standard.
The corner posts of the bedstead are provided with screw-eyes A and A at different levels, in which are inserted the lower portions of the standard 0, the ends being reduced and stepped in the lower screw-eyes. The castings B at the upper ends of the standards have pairs of ears I) and b projected therefrom at right angles, between which the cross-bar D and the side bars of the folding frame E are pivoted. The frame E when elevated is stayed by the braces F, which are made of stout wire, which is doubled on itself to form the parallel members f f, the lower ends of which are bent to form the hooks f and the eyes f The closed end of the brace is recurved to form the hooks f and form a seat for the reception of the side bars of the frame E. The pins f, passing through the sidebars of the frame, are engaged by the hooks f and hold the upper ends of the braces to the said frame-bars. The members ff of the braces project through keepers G on the sides of the standards 0 O, and the hooked ends ff engage with the said keepers and support the frame E. The releasingcord H passes through eyes 71, which are provided to hold the castings B011 the standards and are secured to the eyes f the lower end being extended within convenient reach. The frame-elevating cord I passes through the keepers G, and is connected with the eyes f and, like cord H, extends within convenient reach. The mosquito-netting is attached to the frame E in any desired manner, and the frame is elevated by drawing on the cord I and lowered by pulling on the cord H. The cross-bar D and the frame E can be readily detached from the standards by Withdrawing the pins, so as to be packed in a small compass. The cross-bar D is pivoted at one end to one casting and is attached by hook and eye at its other end to the opposite casting, whereby the hooked end of the said bar can be detached when moving the frame and storing it.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. The combination, with the standards and the frame for supporting the netting, piv otally connected with the said standards, of keepers on the sides of the standards, eyes h, braces F, connected at their outer ends with the said frame and having hooks at their inner ends, the releasing-cord connected with thefree ends of thebraces and passing through the said eyes, and the frame-elevating cord I, passed through the eyes h and connected with the said free ends of the braces, substantially as described.
2. The combination, with the standards and the frame E, pivoted thereto, of the braces F, having parallel members which terminate in hooks, and having the closed end recurved to form the hooks f and a seat for the frame, and the keepers G on the sides of the standards for the hooked ends of the braces, substantially as specified.
3. The hereinbeforespecitied attachment for beds, composed of the standards G 0, easters G, eyes 7L, and the releasing and f ranie-ele- IO ing B at the upper ends of the standards, vating cords, substantially as described. having the ears b and b, the cross-bar D, and In testimony whereof I affix niysignature in the frame E, pivoted between the said ears, presence of two Witnesses.
the braces F, having parallel members which A p v i are provided with hooks f and eyes f at CHARLES CAROLL'] 0N LED their free ends and which have their closed Witnesses:
ends reeurved to form the hooks f and a 1 W. S. COFFMAN, seat for the side bars of the frame E, the keep- W. S. GREIF.
