The device has a holding member 10 which may be formed of. a class of natural stone adapted for sharpening razor blades, though well known composition stone having as its principalingredient lfinely powdered emery Y which is freed of grit. The honingmember or stone 10 has a body 11 which is preferably of a relatively flat substantially rec- I prefer to make the honing member of a tangular shape for permitting its face, as 12, to be used forwhetting a razor blade whenV dulled. Protruding angularly from the end parts of the opposite face, as 18, of

15, and these flanges are of partly square shapes extending across the entire width of the body 11. The flanges 14, 15 are prefn erably made integral with the body 11 of the composition stone which is molded and com-V pressed accordlng to the commonly used process.

Overlapping' the free ends of the flanges 14, 15 and extending acrossthe space therebetween 1n spaced relation to the face 13 of the body 11 is a strap element 16 of leather,

canvas or other material suitable for strop* ping a razor blade to an even keen cutting edge. The strap or stropping element 16 is of' a width corresponding to the lengthsof the flanges, and ,the strap element is of a length so that its end portions, as 17, 17a,

extend'over the outer side yfaces,` of the eclips 18, 19 are preferably of similar forma-` tions, andV these clips may4 bel of vany suitable types, though thekform of each clip illustrated has a body 20 of substantially the shape of an inverted U to provide twospaced arms or leg members 21, 22 and a bridging or spanning member 23. The clips are made of pliable sheet spring metal of relative thickness, and both clips are of lengths similar to the lengths of the flanges 14, 15 of the honing stone 10. The arm member 21 of the body 2O` of each of the clips is preferably wider than the arm member 22 ofthe clip, and the arm member 22 lof each clip is inwardly curved lengthwise vof its free end portion, as 24. The space between the armv members 21, 22 of each of the clips is somewhat less than the thicknesses of the flanges 14, 15 of the honing stone 10 for allowing the clips to be removably sprung in straddle arrangement over the flanges of' the end portions of the strap element being disposed in lapping position over the spanning members 23 of the clips, and the free ends v engaging the inner faces of the'flanges and with the arms 21 engaging the outer faces ofl the flanges. The tension of the arms 21 of the spring clips is such that the clips with the strap element will be firmly held to the flanges of the stone,'and the arched spanning'members 23 of the clips will serve to transversely curve, as at 27, 28, the strap element for preventing itsA lengthwise edges lfrom -tending to curl upwardly from the stropping face of the strap element since the curled ledges of the ordinary razor straps frequently interfere with proper sharpening of :the razor blades. 'I'he device as thus formed may be made in relatively small sizes for being conveniently held in one hand. of a person for use, and when a razor blade is very ldull it may be readilywhetted on the sharpening fa'ce 12 of the stone, after which the blade may be stropped on the strap element 16 to a keen smooth cutting edge.

In the foregoing description, I have embodied the preferred form of my invention, but I do not wish to be understood as limiting Vmyself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from the principle or sacrificing a'ny of the advantages of this invention, therefore, I reserve to myself the right to make such changes asfairly falls within the scope thereof.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A razor hone and strop, comprising a relatively flat substantially rectangular honing stone having spaced stone flanges protruding from one of its faces, a honing strap disposed upon the free edges of the flanges and extending across the space therebetween in spaced, relation to the stone, and means under the end portions of the strap removably 'fastening it to the flanges and transversely curving the central portion of the strap between its lengthwise edges away fromV the stone.

2. A razor hone and strop, comprising a relatively flat substantially rectangular stone havingspaced stone flanges protruding from one of its faces, a honing strap disposed upon the free edges of the flanges'and extending across the space therebetween in spaced relation to the stone, and two clips each sub stantially U-shaped in cross section and having its bridging member convexly `curved lengthwise, said clips being removably attached to the ends of the honing strap with the adjacent parts of the strap lapping upon the curved bridging members of the clips and the clips straddling and detachably clamping the flanges of the stone.
