Description

w. F. IRISH DISPLAY HOOK May 24 1927.
Filed Dec; 14. 1925 Inventor WEfi/bfi Attorney Patented May 24, 1927.
UNITED STATES WILLIAM F. IRISH, OF ANDERSON, SOUTH CAROLINA.
DISPLAY HOOK.
-App1ication filed December 14, 1925. Serial No. 75,302.
This invention relates to display hooks whereby garments and the like may be readily supported for the display purpose upon show cases, cabinets, clothing or mer- 5 chandise shelving, etc. etc. a
The primary object of the present invention is to provide a hook that is readily attachable or detachable in order that the same may be disposed at any convenient point upon the support, regardless of what it may be, and in order that garments upon hanges may be detachably associated therewith for display purposes.
With the foregoing and other objects in View as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same comprises the novel constructed display hook hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing The figure is a perspective view of a display hook constructed in accordance with the present invention, the same being shown as actually associated with a support which in the present instance is illustrated fragment-arily as being a clothing or merchandise cabinet.
Now having particular reference to the drawing, my novel display hook constitutes the provision of a single length steel rod of relatively small diameter that is so bent as to provide a relatively elongated arm 8 with respect to a right angularly extending finger 9, that is formed by bending the rod adjacent its upper end. The inner end of the finger 9 is provided with a downwardly projecting point 10 that may be forced into the surface of a counter, show case, cabinet, or other suitable support for the hook indicated generally by the reference character A.
Slidably disposed upon the arm portion 8 of the hook is an extending bracket 11 that is composed of a single strip of relatively narrow sheet metal, that is bent intermediate its ends as to provide an eye 12 slich ble over the arm portion 8 of said hook. The material forming the bracket is bent outwardly in a converging manner from the eye portion 12 to provide legs 1313, the ends of which are bent outwardly asto provide counter,
cabinet, or shelving front wall engaging feet l41a that are padded upon their'inner faces for preventing marring of said walls.
The provision of bracket 11 will obviously maintain the hook in proper position upon its support and to bend the arm 8 of the hook from engaging said wall of the support, and for maintaining the same in proper spaced relation therewith;
The lower endof the arm 8 of the hook is formed into an eye 15 in order that the usual hook B of a garment hanger C may be engaged and supported therein, said ey e extending in a direction parallel to the finger 9 of the hook in order that the garment hanger will hang in a position parallel to the support upon which the hook is engaged.
It will thus be seen that I have provided a highly novel, simple, and efficient form of display hook, that is well adapt-ed for all the purposes intended and even though I have herein shown and described a specific construction is nevertheless to be understood that minor changes may be made therein without departing from the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new is:-
In a hook of the class described, a single length rod, the upper portion thereof being bent laterally to provide'an elongated vertical arm portion, and a relatively short finger portion, the outer free end of said finger portion being disposed downwardly and terminating in a point adapted for engagement with a support, an eye formed on the lower free end of said vertical arm adapted to provide a support for a garment hanger, said eye being disposed in substantially the same plane as the aforementioned finger portion, and a brace slidable on the arm portion and adapted for engagement with said support for maintaining the arm in a vertical manner and in spaced arrangement with respect to its support.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
WVILLIAM F. IRISH.
