-Briefly, the invention has reference to' an attachment of this kind which includes a casing for a memorandum pad, the casing being provided with a glass panelthrough which the writing on the pad may be viewed while driving, and novel ejector mechanism being arranged in the casing for aiding in removing the pad.

The features and advantages of the invention will become more plainly apparent from the following description and drawings.

The device is generally designated by the reference character 1 and an attaching clamp therefor is designated by the reference character 2. This is of a conventional form and r is connected with a substantially T-shaped bracket 3 which the devicecarries.

The device 1 comprises a substantially rectangular casing 4 which is open at one end to permit insertion and removal of the memorandum pad 5. In practice this pad is rested upon a shelf 6 formed on the lower end of a follower plate 7 which is slidably mounted in the casing. At this time I would direct attention to the fact that the length of the link 12 is such that when the cover or lid 14 is swung to open position as represented in Figure 4, it exerts an upward pull on the spring 9, and thus acts as an ejector for the follower plate .7. Obviously, this lifts the pad upwardly so that it may be "readily grasped to be removed from the follower plate. In this connection it will be noted that one end or corner of the follower plate is notched or cut away to facilitate grasping of the pad in the fingers.

In practice it is obvious that the clamp 2 encircles the steering post or steering post casing as represented in Figure 1, thus disposing the memorandum device 1 in a substantially inclined horizontal position beneath the steering wheel. The transparent side of course is disposed upwardly so that the inscription on the pad may be readily viewed through the window. Consequently, the device will always be in a position to permit the notation to be borne in mind while driving. The device will be found exceptionally successful for use by doctors. For instance, the clerk in the doctors office may take phone calls, and make notatlons on the pad, and when the'doctor is leaving the office he will hand this pad to him and he will insert it in the carrying casing on the steering post so that each item may be attended to in proper order. Then too, the device will be found successful for the housewife who drives downtown and has notations on the pad for various stops or calls to make in attending to a business trip. In 7 fact, various other uses can be found for such a device and in view of the simplicity and practicability it is believed to be exceptionally advantageous and novel. 'Undoubtedly, a careful considei'zation of the description in connection with the draw ings will enable a clear comprehension of the invention to be had. Therefore, a. more lengthy description is thought unnecessary.

Vhile the preferred embodiment ofthe inventionhasbeen shown and described, it is to be understood that minor changes coming within the field of invention claimed 1na vbe resorted to if desired.
