My objects, generally stated, are to provide for the more nearly complete gasification of the oil, thereby attaining greaterheating efficiency of the fuel and producing a cleaner and more effective llame with the elimination of the production of free carbon; to providea novel, simple and inexpensive construction for accomplishing these results, more especially in a natural-draft o burner; to provide for the supporting of the burner in the position necessary to occupied for accomplishing the most effective results; and other objects as will be manifest from the following description.

The burner, in accordance with the preferred illustrated embodiment of my invenf tion, comprises a base portion and a superposed manifold portion 11 shown as supported thereon, the base portion v10 being formed at its center with an inverted bell portion 12 presenting a receptacle 12 and containing at opposite ends thereof apertures 13 surrounded by continuous flanges 14 shouldered, as represented at v15, and forming seats for a purpose hereinafter-- described.
The bell portion 12 at the center of the receptacle 12* contains a-screw-threaded opening 16 in which a pipe 17 is screwed to pro-l ject upwardly and downwardly at its opposite ends beyond the portion 12, the side wall of the pi e 17 where it extends above the base of t e portion 1.2 being apertured, as
represented at 18. Surmounting the pipe 17 and vertically spaced from the portion l2 isa burner-head inthe form of a generator late 19 preferably of the circular stepped orm, as shown, witlithe upper surface of each annular step portion annularly grooved, as represented at 20. The purpose of the conduits 36 and 37 is to ldirect air supplied thereto, as by the natural draft through the furnace ulpped with the burner, through courses so isposed that the air is heated and thereupon, according to the preferred illustrated embodiment of m invention, conducted into and through the tting 24 and pipe 17 and thence into the f enerator p ate 19, for heating the oil as it ows upwardly through the pi e 22 and furnishing a suppl of heated air low and around the burner ead and sup lementary to that supplied thereto from a ve through themani The oil pipe 22 which extendsat its upper end through the coupller 24 and ipe 17 as, stated, is shown as aving a su stantiall horizontally f disposed portion 22 whic projects through the opening 44 ofthe T- coupler 28 in spaced -.relation to the walls of this opening, the coupler 28 bein coninto the opening 44 and through which the portion 22l of the pipe extends in spaced rela tion to the latter. apparatus is referably provided with dripv bucket-contro led mechanism operating autohung on atrip lever 47 controllin matically in the-event of overflow through the ipe 45, to shut off the supply of oil to the urner. Such a mechanism, which is well known in the art and therefore need not be detailed, is diagrammaticall illustrated in Fi 1 in which the bucket or receiving the oi is represented at 46 and is showp as a s iutv oi valvelocated at the portion 48 o the pipe section 22 and controlling the flow of oil to the enerator plate.

The feature of providingthe adjustable legs 52 for the burner structure, is of ad vantage, especiallyv in the type of burner shown and described and involving a generator plate over which the oil, to be burned, flows, inasmuch as it is essential for the most effective operation of the burner that this plate extend horizontally, to ensure an even distribution of the oil over it, and such positioning of the plate maybe effected in applicants apparatus, re ardless of unevennesses existingin the burner is supported.
Thefeature of connecting the drain pipe 45 with the pipe through which heated air is introduced into the burner structure and providing this pipe with the o nings 18, is of advantage inasmuch as suc air as may pipe 45 becomes mingled with the heated air supplied through the pipes 36 and 37 and is thus tempered.
While I have illustrated and described a particular construction embodying my invention, I do not wish to be understood as,

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. In an oil burner, in combination, a burner head, means for delivering oil to said burner head, a preheating chamber surrounding said delivery means, means for delivering heated air above the burner head, and means for delivering heated air to said preheating chamber comprising a member having an air intake below the plane of the burner head, a portion extending over the burner head in the path of the fiames and a non-perforated delivery connected with said preheating chamber.
2. In an oil burner, in combination, a burner head, means for delivering oil to said burner head, a preheating chamber surrounding said delivery means, an overflow pipe connected with said preheating chamber and surrounding said delivery means,
means for delivering heated air above the burner head, and means for delivering heated air to said preheating chamber comprising a member having an air intake below the plane of the burner head, a portion extending over the burner head in the ath of the fiames and a non-perforated de ivery connected with said preheating chamber.
3. In an oil burner, in combination, a mountin plate, a burner head mounted above sald plate, means for delivering oil to said burner head, a. preheating chamber mounted below said plate and surrounding said delivery means, a manifold extending over the burner head mounted on said plate and provided with a delivery port directly overl the burner head, and means for delivering heated air to said preheating chamber comprising a member mounted on said plate parallel to said manifold and provided with an air intake below said plate and a non-persl forated delivery connected with said preheating chamber.
4. An oil burner, in combination, a mounting plate, a burner head mounted above said means, a manifold extending over the burner head mounted on said plate and rovided with a delivery ort directly over t e burner, and means freir delivering heated air to said preheating .chamber comprising members mounted on said .plate parallel to said manifold and each providedvwith an air intake below said plate and a non-perforated delivery connected with said preheating chamber.
5. In an oil burner, in combination, a mounting plate provided with openings at the center, at each corner, and at each end midway the width, a burner head mounted above said central opening, a preheating chamber mounted below said central opening, means for delivering oil to said burner head, extending through said central openin and said preheating chamber, a manifo d having a delivery port over said burner head mounted over sald openings midway the ends of the plate, and means for delivering heated air to said preheating chamber comprising members mounted on said late parallel to said manifold, each member aving an air intake extending through one of `sald .corner openings and a delivery con.-

6.
