IMPROVEMENT IN GAME-BOARDS.'

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 162,664, dated April 27, 1875; application filed March 6, 1875.

To all whom #may concern:

Be it known that I, VICTOR KLOBASSA, of Washington, in the county of Washington and in the District of Columbia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game-Board; and do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact descrip tion thereof, reference being had to the accompan ying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in a game apparatus to play a game called the Centenary Game,as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, which is a representation of the game-board.

The game-board A may be, made of wood, pasteboard, or other suitable material, and, by preference, circular in form. On the face of the game-board is made a circle, B, which is divided into one hundred parts, and lines a a drawn from said points radially inward toward the center, said lines terminating` at an inner concentric circle, C. In the one hundred spaces b b, formed by the lines a a., are

marked the years from 1776 to and including 1875, each space thus representing one year in the history of the United States. Opposite each year thus marked is noted the most important historical event that transpired during that year, whether the same was fortunate or unfortunate. The fortunate events should be marked with some appropriate character, such as, for instance, bright stars, and the unfortunate ones with dark stars. On the margin of the game-board, outside the circle B, the rules of the game or other desired information maybe printed or otherwise afxed. Within the inner circle C are the words Centenary Game;77 also the gures 1b`76,7 and the representation of some public building or other appropriate design. Immediately outside of the inner circle C, in the spaces b b, are marked any desired figures, to correspond with figures on dice or balls used in playing'.

Any numbered balls or dice may be used; but I prefer to use the game-box having balls, patented by me February 16, 1875.

The player throwing a number adjacent to one ofthe fortunate events marked on the gameboard should gain some advantage in the game, while the one throwing a number corresponding with an unfortunate event should have to submit to some certain disadvantages.

This game, besides being a recreation and amusement, is instructive, as the events marked on the game-board are very apt to be indelibly impressed upon the memory of the children using the game-board.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The within-described game-board, having upon its face two concentric circles, B C, with radial lines a a between them, forming one hundred spaces, b b, in which are marked in succession the years from 1776 downward, with a notable event for each year marked in the proper space, substantially as herein set forth.
