ELECTRICAL INSTRUMENT FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT.
Application filed December This invention relates to an instrument for medical treatment which transmits electricity and at the same time gives Warmth, consisting in a metallic outer casing covered with any suitable insulator and provided at its top with a terminal to be connected with an induction coil, and a gate to pour in hot Water; an inner casing within the outer cas ing pierced through at its top with numerous small holes, into which, the inner casing, is inserted a glass casing filled with powder of minerals containing niobium, rubidium, etc.` and covered with cotton: and the bottom of the instrument covered with cotton cloths, and the object of this invention is to promote metabolism by fomentation giving to the skin stimulus and warmth.
The accompanying iigures shoiv the construction of the instrument of my inventionR in Which- Fig. 1 is a side view partly sectional, and
Fig. 2 is a cross sectional view, partly showing the bottom.
This invention consists in an inner casing of metal pierced through at its top Wit-h numer-ous small holes, in which is inserted a glass cylinder' filled with powder of minerals containing niobium, rubidium, Sac., which radiate gamma rays, and covered with cotton., and an outer casing also of metal cover-ed With an insulating material and providedwvith a terminal to be connected to an induction coil and a gate from which hot Water is to be poured in; thus a hot water into which gamma rays directly radiate from the minerals and which conduct electricity from the induction coil, Wet the skin where the instrument is applied for folneutation.
The following is an example of carrying my invention into practice Y (1) is an outer metal casing to be filled Vwith hot Water, covered with an insulating substance (2) which. prevents transfer of electricity and heat. At the top the casing (1) is provided with a gate (3) to pour in not Water, which is stopped With an indiarubber stopper' (4), and a terminal (5) to connect the instrument with an induction coil. The casing (1) has at its bottom at the central part numerous small holes (8), and the place ierced through With these holes is covere by an internal casing (6) 17, 1925. serial No. 75,914.
which is pierced through with small holes (7) at its top. The holes (8) at the bottom of the outer casing (1) communicate with the interior of the same casing (1) through the interior of the inner casing (6). In the inner casing (6), a glass cylinder (9) in which is sealed powders (10) of minerals which contain niobium, rubidium, &c., which radiate gamma rays, and closely covered with cotton (11), is inserted. On the bottom of the instrument, in order to mitigate the heat of the hot Water poured in, and also to spread dampness uniformly, several layers of cotton cloths (12) are stretched, which are covered with a cotton cloth (13).
To use this instrument, hot Water is poured into it through the gate (3), and the gate is tightly stopped with the stopper (t). Then the hot Water soaks through the cotton (11) and receives the radiation of gamma rays from the minerals in the glass cylinder (9) and then passes through the holes (8) and meisten the cotton layers (12) and (13). The instrument is then applied to any desired part of the body, and the terminal (5) is connected with an induce tion coil, and then the electrical current gives the skin moderate stimulus and Warmth, thus assisting metabolism.
I claim:
In an electric instrument for medical treatment the combination of the following elements; a metallic outer casing provided with exterior insulation and a plurality of apertures in its lower end; a second metallic casing positioned Within the outer metallic casing and over the said apertures and provided with a plurality of openings in its upper wall; a glass cylinder located Within the second metallic casing and provided with gamma ray produc-ing minerals; cotton packing located between the outer Wall of the said glass cylinder and the inner Wall of the second metallic casing; a terminal mounted on the exterior of the outer casing and adapted for connection with an electric current; and a terminal rod held in suspension from the said terminal and Within the said outer casing.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
