G.. E. ENGSTROM ELECTRIC FACIAL` DEVICE Filed April 25, 1923 INVENTOR m-roRN mi Patented Feb. 16, 1926.
UNITED STATES GEORGE E. ENGSTROM, OF DEERFIELD, ILLINOS.
ELECTRIC FACIAL DEVICE.
Application filed April 23, 1923.
To @ZZ whom t may con-cern.'
Be it. known that GEORGE E. ENesTioM,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Deerfield, in the county of Lake and State of illinois, have invented new and usefui Improvements in Electric Facial Devices, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an electrical device for use in facial treatments and has for its primary object the construction of a device which may be readily worked into the various depressions in the face and subject same to heat.
ein object of the invention is to construct a device which will subject the various portions of the face to aheating treatment while at the same time be capable of absorbing oils or other excretions from the face.
Besides the above my invention is distinguished in the construction of an inexpensive simple device that may be arranged in proper contact with the skin and heat same.
`With these and other objects in view the invention will be better understood from the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing wh erein- Fig. l is side elevation partly in section of my device.
Fig. 2 is an end elevation.
ricain referring to the drawing illustrating one of the many constructions of n y invention the numeral l designates a shell of a material having absorbing properties. This shell is shaped to provide a hollow body portion 2, and a hollow handle portion 3. A. shell of insulating material d is arranged within the shell l and engaging against this insulation are electric heating coils the terminals 6 of which pass through the handle 3. A filler T is arranged to till the hollow interior ofthe body portion 2. By referring to Fig. 2 it will be noted that the body portion 2 is elliptical in cross section so as to provide a compound curved surface 8 thereby enabling the instrument to be readily worked into the various cavities of the face to assure proper contact and heating effect.
By the use of my device any portion of Serial No. 634,065.
the face may be brought into flat contact with the surface of the shell and be subject to the required amount of heat to open the pores and as the shell l is constructed of absorbing material it will be seen that oils and other excretions from the pores will be readily absorbed thereby completely cleaning the skin.
lt is, of course, to be understood that the device may be shaped in other manners than shown and may be constructed and heated in various other ways than illustrated and, therefore I do not desire to be limited in any manner except as set forth in the claims hereunto appended. Y
Having thus described my invention what l claim is:
l. An'electrical device for facial massage or heat treatment having absorbent properties shaped to provide a body portion having` a curved surface, a handle for the body and an electrical heating coil arranged within the body around the entire inner surface in close proximity to the wall thereof to provide uniform heating of the body.
f. An electrical device for facial massage or heat treatment comprising a shell having absorbent properties shaped to provide a body portion having a curved surface, a handle for the body, an electrical heating coil arranged within the body around the entire inner surface in close proximity to the wall thereof to provide uniform heating of the body and a shell of insulating` material disposed between the heating coil and the wall of the body.
3. An electrical device for facial mass-ago or heat treatment comprising a shell having absorbent properties shaped to provide a body portion having a curved surface, a handle for the body, an electrical heating coil arranged within the body around the entire inner surface in close proximity to the wall thereof to provide uniform heating of the body, a shell of insulating material disposed between the heating coil and the wall of the body, and a filler for the space in the body within the` heating coil.
In testimony whereof l atlix my signature.
GEORGE E. ENGSTROM.
