Abstract
160,431. Forshee, J. K. March 18, 1920, [Convention date]. Electric appliances; heating appliances; electric Killing-appliances.-Electrodes for use with highfrequency generators, static machines, &c., comprise conducting elements and dielectric, elements so arranged that electric discharge takes place through the dielectric material. The electrodes may be used for therapeutic purposes, for destroying insects and vermin, or for general heating purposes. The electrode may comprise a, metal sheet arranged between layers of glass, silica or porcelain, or a metal rod enclosed in a glass tube. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which a hollow glass or silica body 17 is coated on the inside with a metal layer 19 by electroplating, by precipitation, or by means of metalized paint, metalized glass, or otherwise. A contact cap 20 with walls extending both inside and outside the open end of the body 17 is formed of the same metal as that employed for the lining 19 or of a closely related metal and is preferably formed by electroplating or precipitation. Fig. 4 shows a solid metal electrode 21 coated in any known manner with dielectric material 23. An electrode for general heating purposes comprises a dielectric block 25, Fig. 5, formed with a groove 26 within which conducting bars 27 are mounted in juxtaposition to earthed conductors 29 spaced from or in contact with the outside of the block. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 6631/03 and 1499/07.
