Application fired m 29, 1925. Serial ea 232623.
This invention relates to iinprovementsin curtain and'shade holders, particularly de vices of this type which are adapted to fit any width of window frame.
v is the 'principal object of tlieinven'tion to provide a window shade and curtain mounting, adapted to support both, the usual shade roller and th'e' rod orrods' from' which: curtains or draperies or the lik'eiar e 1o suspended, and one, which allowsan adjust-- ment and locking "o ffthe parts in their. ad-
justed positions. V 1
Another object the invention 1sthe provisionofa combination windowshade struction, and which can readily be attached to a window. frame or the like.
. For further comprehension of the inventionyand its many objects and advantages, referencev willbe had to the following de- 0 scription and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which. the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the drawing: 7 v I Fig. 1, is a perspective view of the combination curtain and shade holder constructed according to the present invention.
Fig. 2 is a front elevation thereof.
Fig. 8 is a top plan View of the device.
Fig. 4 is a detail side elevation of the shade roller support, partly. in section'on line 4% of Figure 2.
My improved window curtain and shade mounting comprises a pair of brackets or supports located at opposite sides of the window frame near the top thereof. These brackets "or supports being respectively of 7 right and left'hand construction, but other wise the samesothatvthe description of one will be sufficient for the understanding of the invention.
Each of these mountings comprises a base or supporting plate 10 equipped at one side thereof with a flange angularly disposed to the plate 10 and designated 11. Both the flange, as well as the plate are provided with and curtainmounting allowing a folding of openingsallowing the passage of the suit I able fastening means forattac'hing'the 'deviceto the side edges and the front of a window frame, as shown at 12.
Two parallellongitudinal guides 13 and 14 are provided on the body of thepl'ate 19.
closer to the lower edge t- 'lier'eof than toitl'i'e' upper, one; to*- form guides for the upper andlo'w'er flanges 15 and 16' of the base 1 6 of the shaderoll'er holder 1'7 for fi'rmly gin-ding the base 16 during its displacementlongi tudinallfy' to plate-1'0. In the area limited,
by the; guides 'l and lt-tlie 'plate" 10 is pro vid'ed with corrugations, as sliown at 15 for a purposehereafter more fully to be dey scribed;
To the base 16 are attached, or made in-v tegrally therewith, the two forwardly extending cheeks, 22, 23 engaging the side faces of the holder 17 on opposite sides.
thereof. The shank of the holder 17 is extended to the rear between the two cheeks and is intermediate its ends pivotal ly secured to the same by means of the pin 24. The
holder 17 has the customary upper frontal slot 25 for the reception of the roller pintles, and has a rear extension 26, adapted to pass in the operating position of the holder through the slot 21 in base 16 into engagement between the teeth or corrugations 27 provided for at the front face ofthe plate 10 to lock the holder 17 firmly in any of. its adjusted positions with respect to the guide. The holder 17 furthermore, has near its rear end an upper nose or extension 30 passing through slot 21 when the holder is folded against plate 10 by turning it about its pivot, while its outer slotted part is extending through a vertical slot 31 in plate 10 above slot 13 therein.
Two removable tubular stems 32 and 33 are securely held in their working positions in any suitable manner in suitable openings of the plate 10 near the upper left hand cor ner thereof, and are adaptedto receive the ends of an extensible curtain rod or pole in the wellknown manner.
The operation ofthe device will be entirely clear from the above description, the
flanges 15 and 16 are passed into the guides 13 and 14:, the corrugations 27 on plate 10. are engaged by teeth on the rear extensionend is guided against plate 10 and through the slot 31 therein, while the tubular stems 32 and 33 are removed, thus allowing a convenient stacking of the mountings so as to take up as little space as possible.
The recess 25 allows the support of the pintles of a shade roller on holder 17 in the usual manner, while the open front ends of the tubular stems 32, 33 allow the intro duction of the suitably bent ends of extensible curtain rods or poles.
It is to be understood that many changes may be made in the construction of the minor details of my device without departure from the scope of the invention as dofined in the appended claims and without conflicting with the spirit of my invention.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. In a device of the class described, having a shade roller holder formed with a rear extension engageable with vertical corrugations between longitudinal guides, the combination of a base, an upper and lower flange depending from said base, and engagcablc beneath said longitudinal guides, forwardly extending cheeks projecting from said base, and formed with aligned apertures to pivotally hold said shade roller holder, and said base being formed with a slot to permit the said rear extension of said shade roller holder to engage the said vertical corrugations. A
2. In a device of the class described, having a shade roller holder "formed with a rear extension engageable with vertical corrugations between longitudinal guides, the combination of a base, an upper and lower flange depending from said base, and engageable beneath said longitudinal guides, forwardly extending cheeks integral to said base, and formed with aligned apertures to pivotally hold said shade roller holder, and said base being formed with a slot to permit the said rear extension of said shade roller holder to engage the said vertical corrugations.
In testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature.
