construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved transfer holder whereby certaln 1mportant advantages are attained andthe device rendered-simpler, less expensive and 20 otherwise more convenient and advantageas will be hereinafter more fully ous for use, set forth. l
The novel features of my invent-ion will hereinafter be definitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I, will now proceed to describe the same with reference to produced;
Figure 2 is a view in sideelevation of the device in applied position;
Figure 3 is a view in top plan of the device in applied position;
Figure 4 is a view in elevation of the holding spring for a pad kor pack unapplied.
As particularly illustrated in Figure l of the accompanying drawing, my improved holder is formed from a single sheet of metal possessing a certain degree of inherent resiliency and in productionl itis to be understood that the device is to be of such size and configuration as may be necessary in accordance with the style of fare box carrier with which it is to be employed.
As herein disclosed, my improved holder comprises a body plate l of requisite dimensions and configuration but herein disclosed as oblong in form and which has struck from the opposite end portions thereof at its transverse center the oppositely directed - tongues 2 and 3, the free ends of vwhich being outwardly disposed. These tongues are ,adapted to engage the bars a of the frame comprised in a fare box carrier or rigging.
the acfirmly hold At one end, the body platey 1 at substan-` tially it's'transverse center is provided with a lug 4 which in the complete device, as illustrated l in Figure 3, extends outwardly at right angles to the plate l and terminates in an inwardly disposed extension 4 said extension 4 being spaced from the plate lto snugly receive thereunder an end portion of the cardboard back constituting the bottom of all pads or packs of transfers or the like.
At substantially its longitudinal center.' l l the plate lis provided with the outstanding relatively short flanges or lugs 5 which constitute guards to provide further means for maintaining a pad or, pack in desired applied position. f
The opposite end of the plate land atopposite sides of its transverse; centeris prowhich are disposed v at right angles to vided with the lugs 6` outwardly substantially the plate l and terminate inthe inwardly directed extensions 16. These extensions 6, are forced into the stub end of the pack or pad of transfers or the like to further assure the maintenance of such pack or pad in applied position.A
The en d ofthe plate l `adjacent to the lugs 6 has extending upwardly from its side margins' the upstanding flanges or wings 7 with which are adapted to be hooked or otherwise engaged' the tractile member 8 preferably a spiral spring.
This spring is adapted to be disposed over the stub end portion of the applied pack or pad and exerts suiiicient tension thereon to pack.
From thev foregoing description itis thought to be obvious that'a transfer yholder constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly Well adapted for use by reason of theconvenience and facility'with` which it may be assembled and operated,
and it will also bel obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without departing from' the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to t-he precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention as hereinafter claimed.
I claim ing a body plate,
extremities of the re- 4 the stub portion of the :pad or in practice except e l .110" A holder of the class described comprisan outstanding lug carried by an end portion of the plate, anda retractile member adapted to be disposed having its `treey extremity inwardly disposed, transversely across tlieplate and engaged a pair of lugs carried by the opposite end of with said second named flanges, the body the plate and at opposite sides of its transverse plate at the opposite end portions thereof center, said ,second lugs also having, theirv and at substantially its transverse center `free extremities inwardly disposed, outstandhaving struck therefrom oppositely directed ing guard flanges carried by the side portongues, the free end portions of said tions of the plate at the central part theretongues being` outwardly disposed to prooit', additional outstanding flanges carriedv vide an attaching medium.
by the side portions of the plate adjacent to the end provided with the two lugs, and i THOMAS EDGAR' REESE. y
