his invention relates to improvements in shoe polishing cabinets and particularly to such c: binets as may be mounted in the wall of a bath room or the like as a fixture therein or whim may be secured on such a iinished wall.

il cabinet in accordance with this invention. as will hereinafter be more specifically described, comprises a longitudinal upright casing havingl an open front and a plurality of shelves therein for containing articles to be nsed inV connection with the device and snch other toilet articles as it may be desired to leep in the cabinet. The cabinet is provided with a cover for its front comprising a section pivotally connected adjacent to the lower portion of the cabinet and upon which a foot rest is mounted; this section is adapted to cover the lower end of the cabinet and the foot rest is mounted on it in such position with respect to the pivot as to maintain the section in closed position when it is swung upwardly on its pivot. The upper part is covered by a section hingedly connected with the upper end of the lower section and a securing member is provided for holding it in closed position over the shelves in the upper part of the abinet. rihis upper closure section, when the inembers are in open position, is adapted to form a forward support for the lower section carrying the footrest by its free end resting on the floor under said section.

Further features and details of the invention will appear in the description in connection with the accompanying sheet of dra-wing forming a part of this specification. ln the drawings similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views, of which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a shoe polishing cabinet, constructed in accordance with the present invention,

Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view of the fabinet disclosed in Fig. 1, closed and incorporated in a vertical wall; and

Fig. 3 is a similar vertical sectional view of the cabinet with the closure members in open positions.

Referring to the drawings, the cabinet generally designated by the numeral 10, coinprises

side walls

11 and 12, a top 13, a bottom 14 and a back wall 15. Within the cabinet adjacent to the lower portion is a shelf 16 and in the upper portion thereof are a plurality of shelves 17.

A front closure for the cabinet comprises a lower section 18 pivoted by hinge members 19 to the

side walls

11 and 12 secured theretov above the bottom lll and slightly below the shelf 1G. This closure, Vas indicated in Fig. 2, is adapted in closed position to cover the porti-on of the cabinet from the bottoni 141 up to the first shelf 17, and from said shelf to the top 13, the cabinet is closed by a section 20. A spring pressed projection 21 carried by the top 13 is adapted to cooperate with a depression 22 in the end of the section 20 for holding the same in closed position. The section 2O is provided with a knob or handle 23 which may be .grasped for pulling it out and swinging the same to open position.

On the upper or inner side of section 18 a foot rest and shoe polisher 24 is mounted and secured in place by means of screws 25' extending through the feet 26 thereof. It will be noted that when the section 18 is swung upward to closed position that `the foot rest 24 is within the cabinet between the shelf 16 and the lower shelf 17 its weight is well beyond the pivotal point at 19 of the section 18 and inside of the cabinet so that it will effec-tively maintain the sec` tion 18 in its closed position. The upper section 2O may be opened or closed independently thereof, thereby affording access to articles on the shelves 17 without opening the entire cabinet.

'Vhen it is desired to use the foot-rest the section 20 Vis first opened and upon further drawing this section outward the section 18 will be swung on its pivots 19 to open position. The section 20 will swing naturally downward and its free end will engage the floor, as indicated in F ig. 3, and elfectively support the foot rest in a horizontal position.

Having disclosed a preferred and practical embodiment of the invention it is not desired to be limited to the exact construction shown.

What claimed as the invention and is desired to be secured by Letters Patent is:

1. A shoe polishing cabinet, comprising an open front vertical casing, a lower cover section hinged at its lower end to the lower end of the casing and entendinoi part way upwardly of the saine for closing in the lower portion of the casing, a foot rest secured to the inner side of the lower cover section and adapted by its weight to main-- tain the said cover section raised in closed position to house the foot rest, and an upper cover section hinged to the upper end of the lower cover section to close the upper port-ion of the casing and adapted to swing upon the lower cover section into open position without opening the latter section, said upper section being movable with the lower section and the latter section adapted to he swung downwardly into open horizontal position and the upper section adapted to be swung downwardly into vertical position to provide a support for the lower section and the foot rest mounted thereon.

A shoe polishing` cabinet, comprising a vertical casing open at its front, and having a bottom shelf and a plurality of upper shelves spaced above the bottom shelf? a lower cover section hinged to the lower liront of the casing for closing the space beneath said upper shelves7V a foot rest mounted on the inner side of the lower cover section to lie in said space, said lower cover section adapted to loe swung outwardly into horizontal position, and an upper cover section hinged upon the upper end of the lower cover section to enclose said upper shelves, said upper cover section adapted to swing down with said lower cover section and moving thereon downwardly into vertical position to engage the floor and support the lower cover section and the foot rest in horizontal position.
