TOOTI-IBRUSH.
Application filed February 26, 1925.
This invention relates to a novel article or mainiiiacture in the form oi a tooth brush.
What- I purpose to do is to provide a simple and inexpensive tooth brush which is adapted to form a part of what is to be known as dental kit, the kit containing the brush b ing in the form or a small packet which may be and preferably is dispensed from a conventional form of vending machine to be supplied on travelers conveyances, such as railway trains, steamboats, and the like, whereby to afford a temporary tooth brush and other articles for emergency use.
(Ether it'eatures of advantage of the invention will become apparent from the following description and drawings:
in the claims:
Figure 1 is a perspective view of a tooth brush constructed in accordance with the present invention,
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken approximately upon the plan of the line 22 of Figure 1.
Referring to the drawings, it will be seen that the improved brush comprises a handle 1 and a head 2, together with the customary bristles 8. The handle and head are formed from a single piece of material. The material employed is compressed paper and this is rendered moisture and weather-prooi in any suitable manner. The material preferably employed is similar to that used in the construction of sanitary paper spoons frequently seen, there being enough body to the material to render it sutliciently rigid to withstand the comparatively rough usage to which it is put.
Serial No. 11,832.
In forming the improved brush, the ma terial is pressed to provide achannel-shaped handle, and elongated cup-like head. in "auiacturing the brush, the cup serves to ive a quantity of u ater-proor glue or other adhesive, for securely fastening the bunches of bristles to the head. The surrounding marginal flange serves to prevent displacement of the bristles and constitute .ie novel. retainer for the glue. In practice, as depth of the cup varies according to the length of the bristles so that a desired amoun ot cement or its equivalent can be used for assuring proper anchorage of the bristles in place. The gist of the idea is in supplying a device capable 01" temporary use at the lowest cost possible, so that when a traveller inadvertently forgets to take his dental kit with him, he can obtain one from a dis- 'pensing machine on the train, the kit inclu t-he novel brush herein described and shown.
Having thus described my invention, What E claim as new is:
A tooth brush adapted for temporary use b travelers and the like, said brush comprising a single piece of water prooi ed paper of a consistency capable or rendering it comparatively rigid, said paper being formulated into a channel shaped handle and an elongated cup-like head, a plurality of bunches of bristles fitted into said head, and a water proof adhesive in said head and securing said bristles in place.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
ALEXANDER G. JAWUS.
