Description
O. A. ROLAND Jan. 4, 1938.
DEN TURE K I T Filed July 11, 195e 0'. Ho Zand UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE DENTURE KIT Orville A. Roland, Quincy, Ill. Application July 11, 1936, Serial No. 90,219
1 claim.
This invention relates to a denture kit, and it is primarily an object of the invention to provide a kit of this kind especially designed and adapted for use in connection with articial teeth.
The invention also has for an object to provide a kit of this kind comprising a container and a brush adapted to be assembled in a convenient and compact manner so that the kit is especially desirable while travelling.
An additional object of the invention is to provide a kit constructed in of this kind including a brush a manner to permit the same being conveniently assembled with respect to a container and wherein the brush is constructed in a manner to assure effective cleansing of artificial teeth.
The invention consists in the details of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts of my improved denture kit whereby certain important advantages are attained and the device rendered simpler, less expensive and otherwise more convenient and advantageous for use, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.
The novel features of my invention will hereinafter be denitely claimed.
In order that my invention may be the better understood, I
will now proceed to describe the same with reference to the accompanying drawing, whereinz- Y Figure 1 is a view partly in side elevation and partly in section of a denture kit constructed in accordance wi tion with the tion;
th an embodiment of my invenvarious parts in assembled rela- Figure 2 is a view in top plan of the brush as herein comprised;
Figure 3 is a fragmentary detailed sectional view illustrating the mounting upon a container of the cap and As disclosed top.
in the accompanying drawing, C
denotes a container of preferred design and dimensions to hold a supply of cleanser preferably of a powder type.
One end of the container is open and engaged with said open end portion is a slip cap S.
is provided with I having its outer end 2 closed.
The central part of this cap S a relatively short discharge tube This closed outer end of the tube I is provided with one or more relatively small openings 3 through which the contents of the container C may be dusted upon the bristles of the brush B.
Normally engaged with the tube I is a friction cap 4 to charge of the comprises a head 5 formed to closely conform to the configuration of the top of the cap S, with the back face of the head 5 so formed and designed to have close contact with the outer surface of the cap S.
The central portion of the head 5 at the bristle side thereof is thickened to provide transversely thereacross a broad rib or flange 6. At the central part of this thickened portion of the head 5 through an opening in the rear face thereof is a pocket or recess 1 of a size to receive the tube I and applied cap 4 when the brush B is in position upon the cap S. Extending out from the head 5 at opposite sides of the flange or rib B are the bristles 8 and projecting out from the flange or rib 6 are the shorter bristles 9. As is particularly illustrated in Figure 1, the extremities of the bristles 8 and 9 are substantially coplanar. The kit also includes a top T which, when applied, slips over the surrounding flange I0 of the applied slip cap S. This top T is of such dimensions as to entirely house the brush B and also to extend a slight distance beyond the free extremities of the bristles 8. Each side wall of the top T, preferably at a point beyond the bristles 8 and 9 when the top is applied, is provided with the Ventilating openings Il. The brush B is maintained in desired position upon the slip cap S by the close contact between the interior wall of the pocket or recess T and the peripheral surface of the applied friction cap 4.
With the kit assembled as illustrated in Figure 1 of the drawing, it is of the size of a compact to permit the kit to be easily carried in a pocket, in a travelling bag, or conveniently placed within a lavatory, or otherwise as may be preferred.
My improved kit as herein disclosed is particularly advantageous for use by a person having artificial teeth. In use, after removal of the top T, the brush B is removed from the slip cap S. The cap 4 is then removed from the outlet tube I whereupon the material, preferably powder, is dusted upon the bristles 8 and 9 of the brush B which preferably has previously been moistened. If preferred, however, the material within the container C may be dusted directly on the denture. It is to be noted that the bristles 9 are of a length less than the bristles 8. This is an important feature as these short bristles 9 are essential in cleaning between the artificial teeth. The longer bristles 8 at each end of the head 5 are used for general cleaning of the teeth and also for cleaning the back of the upper plate when cleaning down on the ridge part of the dentures.
The cap S may be readily removed to refill the container C and in order to assure the maintenance of the top T and the cap S upon the container C overlying portions of said members are provided with intertting parts pressed outwardly from the overlying portions as indicated generally at l2 in the drawing.
The container C a desired distance inwardly of its open end has pressed outwardly therefrom a surrounding bead or flange Ill which limits the extent of application o1" the top T, said ange serving as a stop.
From the foregoing description it is thought to be obvious that a denture kit constructed in accordance with my invention is particularly well adapted for use by reason of the convenience and facility with which it may be assembled and operated, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modication without departing from the principles 2,104,470 Y v y *Y and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in practice except as hereinafter claimed.
A denture kit comprising a container, a perforate discharge cap at one end of the container, a closure cap frictionally engaging over said discharge cap, and a brush member frictionally engaging said closure cap, said brush member comprising a back contacting with said one end of the container on opposite sides of said closure cap and provided with an outwardly oiset central portion overlying said closure cap and bristles secured to said back and said offset portion with the ends of said bristles substantially coplanar from end to end of said brush, said central portion providing a recess in the back to snugly receive said closure cap whereby said brush will be frictionally maintained on said closure cap.
