UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHESTER A. ERICK, OF MUN CIE, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR TO GLASCOCK BROTHERS MANU- FACTURING 00., OF MUNGIE, INDIANA, A CORPORATION OF INDIANA.
CROWN PULLER.
Application filed October 15, 1924. Serial No. 743,675.
My invention relates to crown cap removers for bottles and one of the objects thereof is to provide a cap remover by whi' h the crown caps of pop bottles and the like may a be readily removed without spilling the contents of the bottle.
Another object of my invention is to provide a means for collecting the caps as they are removed from the bottle and preventing the same from flying during the process of removal.
For the purpose of illustration I have shown one embodiment of the invention in the accompanying drawing in which- Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a cap remover embodying my invention;
Fig. 2 is a rear elevation, and Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section. In the embodiment of the invention illustrated I provide a receptacle 1 preferably V shaped in cross section and having formed in its rear wall a pair of 'key slots 2 by which the receptacle may be removably mounted on screws or pegs on any suitable 2 support. The top of the receptacle is open and across the front edge there is provided a cross bar 3 having a lip 4 adapted to engage under the edge of the crown 5 which is to be removed from the bottle. Secured to and extending downwardly from the cross bar 3 is a fulcrum arm 6 against which the top of the cap 5 of the bottle is adapted to rest. An opening 7 in the face of the front of the receptacle permits actess'to the lip 4 and in operation the bottle from which the 3.3 crown is to be removed is inserted through the opening 7 in contact with the fulcrum arm 6 and slid upwardly until the edge of the cap engages behind the lip 4. By depressing the bottle the cap 5 is lever-ed 40 off the bottle and drops down into the bottom of the receptacle.
I claim as my invention:
A bottle crown remover comprising a receptacle open at its top and having a substantially straight rear wall arranged to be secured toa support and a front wall inclined upwardly and outwardly and having an, elongated opening near its top, a cross bar secured to the rear face of said wall adjacent the top of said opening and having its lower edge beveled away from the wall and a tongue on said cross bar projecting downwardly from said cross bar and in front of said opening and spaced apart from the lower edge of the bar.
In witness whereof. I CHESTER A. FRICK have hereunto set my hand at Muncie, Indiana', this 11th day of October, A. 1). one thousand nine hundred and twenty four.
CHESTER A. FRICK.
