IMPROVEMENT IN HOODS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 161,003, dated March 23, 1875; application filed December 5, 1874.

Figure l is a side view of the hood. Fig. 2 illustrates the manner in which it is worn.
This hood is, in construction, an oval bag, with a transverse slit and an elastic neck, which is drawn on over the head, face, and neck of the wearer, the slit exposing the eyes,
while the rest of the features are effectnally protected from the cold.
A represents the section covering the head; B, that covering the forehead; C, the section covering the lower portion of the face; D, the elastic neck-piece, which closes snugly around the neck of the wearer. E is the eye-slit,
which can be buttoned up at the middle by the button and loop a b.
The use of this hood willprevent the great suffering experienced in the neck and face by prolonged exposure to great cold, as it serves as a mask for the face, a covering for the neck, and also as a respirator to warm the air inspired, and, being of elastic material, and of the construction above described, can be readily donned.
We claim- As a new and improved article of manufacture, a knit hood constructed of woolen yarn, worsted, &c., constructed with the sections B (l, for protecting the face, horizontal eye-slit E, the edges of which are capable of being closed by means of a button connection when the cap is worn, and the elastic neck-piece D, for tting the neck closely, substantially as described and specified.
