AMUSEMENT DEVICE.

Application filed January This invention relates to toys or amusement devices having more particular reference to a device of the type in which a man nikin or like figure has certain parts thereof adapted for movement through the medium of springs controlled or manipulated by an operator, the invention having for an object the provision of a noveltoy or amusement device of this sort.

For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of'the invention are more particularly set forth.

As here shown my improved device comprises a mannikin 10 which I have here shown as lying on its back on a platform 10. he legs of the mannikin are shown at 11 and the arms at 12. In the normal operating arrangement of the parts these legs and arms extend upward substantially at right angles to the body. The arms may be fixed to the body to be permanently extended away from the latter. while the legs are here shown as pivsition. A stop 16 may be provided on the body to form an abutment for the legs when The legs have con nected to the ends thereof the cords 16, while the arms have connected to the ends thereof the cords 17. 16 and 17 pass individually through a series of transverse openings 18 formed in and spaced along a bar 19 which the mannikin is supposed to manipulate after the fashion of a juggler. dle-bar 22. The head 24 of the niannikin may be pivotally attached thereto as at 25 to swing vertically and has connected thereto a cord 26 Which extends upward and is attached to a foot pedal 27 mounted on a floor or platform 28 on which the operator stands.

Projecting from one of the legs 11 is a lug or finger 30 to which is connected one end of a cord 31 which passes downward therefrom and around suit-able pulleys 32 and finally upward to'connect at its other end to the pedal 27.

In Fig. 1 of the drawing I have shown the bar 19 in position resting upon the feet of the mannikin, the cords 17 from the arms 12 being loosened, and the cords 16 from the legs llbeingtightened. By simultaneously moving the handle-bar 22 upward and the bar 21 downward and thereby tightening the cords 17 and loosening the cords 16 the bar 19 may be caused to travel from the feet to the hands of the mannikin, being indicated in the latter position in dot and dash lines in Fig. 1. 16 and loosening the cords 17 the bar may be caused to move back to position resting upon the feet of the mannikin or figure.

In Fig. 3 of the drawing I have indicated the device as mounted behind the window 34 of a house 35. In Fig. 4 of the drawing I have shown a modified construction in which the head 10 of the mannikin is loose on the body 41 and is formed with a vertical aperture 42 through which pass a pair of cords 43 and 4 1 one of which is attached at one end to the neck of the mannikin and the other to the end of one of the legs thereof, these cords being attached at their other ends to the handle-

15 and 46 respectively, the leg to which the said cord is attached being extended horizontally in front of the body. By the same process of simultaneously tightening one cord and loosening the other the head may be caused to travel between its normal position and a position resting on the foot to which the cord is attached.

Having thus described my invention what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United States is as fol-- lows 1. A device of the class described'comprising a toy figure, an element related to said figure and formed with spaced apertures adapted to be transferred between and restfreely upon different parts of said figure,

A device of the classdescribed comprising a figure, a bar formed with spaced apertures adapted to be passed between positions resting on the legs and arms of said figure respectively pairs ofcords connected at one end to thesaid legs and arms and passing through said apertures in said bar, and handle bars to opposite ends of which the other ends of the respective cords ofeaeh pair are attached.
