My invention possesses other objects and features of advantage, some of which, with the fore oing, will be set forth in the'following c escription of the preferred form of my invention which is illustrated in the drawings accompanying and forming part of the specification. It is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the showing made by the said drawings and description, as I may adopt variations of the preferred form within the scope of my invention as set forth in the claims.

Broadly speaking, my flashing structure comprises a strip of any suitable material such as wood, and is adapted to be mounted on a suitable substructure usually comprising the parapet wall. Recesses are provided in the strip for containing a plastic material which forms an impervious seat for the edge of a sealing piece or apron. The apron is held in position by suitable fastening means which are anchored in the strip, and overlies the upturned edge of the roofing sheet which may be attached to the strip in any suitable manner, such as by nailing.
In the preferred form of my invention, I provide a four-sided strip of wood 3, or other suitable material, and which has one of two opposite sides narrower than the other. This shape is especially adapted for use with concrete walls, and if the strip is so used it is nailed to the forms, with the narrow side 4: next them, prior to the pouring of the concrete. When the forms are removed from the walls the strip remains imbedded or interlocked in the concrete with invention is to provide its narrow side exposed. Preferably the apron 9 overlies the edge of a flexible roofing material 12, which is attached to the wood strip by suitable nails 13. Ordinarily, roofing of the type mentioned because of its flexibility cannot be laidv vertically against the parapet wall for a height of more than a few inches, but my flashing structure provides a place to which it may be readilyattached at any convenient height. This feature isshown in Fig. 1, in which the roofing sheet 12 is extended upwardly to the strip from the'plane of the roof 14; and against the parapet wall 16.
After the driving of the hooked nails to secure the apron, the whole is preferably given a mop coating 17 of bituminous material, as a final sealing and protective coat.
Not only'does my flashing structure permit the secure sealing of the edge of the roofing, but it lends itself readily to application in positions and at heights above the roof deck not possible wit-h any other structure. Furthermore'it is cheaply made and readily installed and because of the ease of cutting the strip it is quickly fitted in cora flashing strip having a longitudinal groove therein, and a normally plastic material in said groove. r
2. A flashing structure for a roofing comprising a Wooden strip shaped to interlock with a sub-structure and having a face to which roofing may be secured, said strip being formed with a longitudinal groove in said face, a normally plastic material in said groove, an apron seated in said plastic material and overlying the fastened edge of the roofing and Wedge members inserted in said groove for fastening said apron in place.
