IMPROVEMENT IN ORGAN-STOP ACTIONS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 160,568, dated March 9. 12:75; application filed June 27, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK M. BRUSH, of Potsdam, St. Lawrence county, New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Organs, of which the following is a specification:
The invention will first be fully described, and then pointed out in the claim.
Figure 1 is a transverse section of an organ, taken on the line w 00, Fig. 2, showing my invention; and Fig. 2 is a plan view of the stops and apparatus for working them.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the stops, which are arranged to be pushed out or pulled in by hand, in the usual way, and, besides, are provided with a lug, B B; on two sides, respectively, to be acted on by the arms 0 of the shaft 1) to be pushed in, and by the arms F of the shaft G to bepushed out. Shaft D has a cord, H, eX-
tending down from a pulley, I, to a pedal, J,
for turning it to push the stops in, and a spring, K, for pulling it back, and shaft G has a cord, L, extending down from pulley M to a pedal, N, for turning it to push the stops out, and a spring, 0, to turn it back.
The pedal may be arranged to he worked by the feet, hands, or knees, as preferred; but it will probably be most desirable to have them adapted to be worked by the feet.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patcut-- The draw-stops A, having lugs B B, and the rock-shafts G D, provided with the pulleys M I, springs K 0, and cords H L, in combination with 011 and off treadles, all the said parts being constructed to operate substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
